Worth becoming a member and if so what's the best value-executive membership?
|
|
Kirkland's brand is about to become very common around your house.
|
|
i've got no idea about the membership levels, I just have the basic.
If you like bulk stuff like food, TP, dog food, etc...it's worth it. I get my membership cost back in just dog food savings throughout the year, and their brand stuff is good quality. I also like their shredded cheese, tortilla chips, etc. If you don't get bulk food/toiletries/dog food....maybe not worth it. They also have decent prices on tires. Like someone else said, kirkland brand stuff is actually pretty nice quality. It's not like walmart quality where you suffer for the price. Their brand stuff is actually good. |

As a normal consumer, the regular household membership has been great.
If I was in business where I had to entertain clients, set up spreads, etc., the executive is nice. The quality in food for the price alone was worth it for me. You can find great paper goods, too. Kirkland products seem to be the best of both worlds. Only downside, and this goes for all bulk stores, sometimes you're really not getting a good deal. Coffee, cereal, spices, etc aren't that great for the price. The fresh-to-freezer packs of chicken for $1.99 for breast paid for the membership, alone. |
|
Not bad. Start with the cheap membership and see how much you use it. Kirkland is a good store brand, don't shy away from it. The coffee is good and way better priced than Walmart. Tires, some meat, and the pies, oh hang on.
The toilet paper works as advertised. No blisters. |

Lunch time, get all the samples, then go again.

Olive oil
Thumb drives Batteries Coffee TP Paper Towels Napkins Mexi Coke Steaks from the Prime Beef Section Benefiber Eye drops Toothpaste |
|
Giant bag of frozen chicken
Canned roast beef Flushable wipes Bulk toilet paper Kirkland cashews Marinara Sauce Eneloop batteries Tires Extra strength Energy Shots (Kirkland brand) comes out to about .70 per bottle vs $2.50 5-hour energy drinks Bulk Basmati rice |
|
Costco brand mixed nuts.
Costco brand double pack of thick sliced applewood smoked bacon, comes to about $2.50/lbs. and is very good. Best two deals in the place IMO. Their flowers are good too for wifey, etc. |

The Sam's Club here is slightly cheaper but the Costo is much cleaner/nicer with better clientele and employees, an overall more enjoyable experience.
If you actually break it down to price per once on many items though you can shop cheaper at the Walmart grocery store since they will match the sales and Buy One Get One Free offers from all the other area stores if you take the sales flyers in.

Ok, we have the Obama supporter / Crazy Dem owner posts out of the way.
Who is gonna raise with leg breaking receipt checkers?
|

|
To break even on the Executive membership you have to spend about $230 per month.
|
|
Their executive membership pays me to shop there.
Almost everything is a good deal honestly

The Kirkland-brand 550 round bulk packs of ,223 are excellent.
I think that they are actually Federal M855. 550 rounds for $139. Not bad. The Kirkland-brand M4 carbines have mixed reviews. You get four rifles in a shrinkwrap package for $1550, but they don't have CL barrels and rumor has it they are really DPMS. |

They took the "NO GUNS ALLOWED" Signs down in the Tucson AZ Locations....
I can't speak to other locations.... Get the Executive Membership.... If after a year, you DON'T save the difference between the Executive and the Regular membership, I do believe they'll refund the difference! I ALWAYS get at LEAST a check for the difference between the basic membership and the Executive, so on a "GOOD YEAR", I actually get my membership for free.... Yes, the owner is "Anti-Gun", but if you knew who else in corporate America was also Anti-Gun, you probably wouldn't be able to buy anything.... $1.99 for the hot dog and soda in CT? DAMN......It's $1.50 here in AZ...... You can take just about ANYTHING BACK FOR A REFUND, ANYTIME......(except TV's and Computers now)....... |

Most of what I buy is baby related with some household stuff thrown in, but they do have some good deals on random things all the time. I got a Pelican cooler and a Kubota tool chest this year. They also send you coupons that usually have good deals on things like batteries, motor oil, Techron, thumb drives, etc.
The twin pack of Cholula in big bottles is always nice as well. |
|
Some of the best deals I've found at Costco are one-shots. They get a bulk shipment of something good, and it's buy it then or never see it again.
Stuff like furniture, clothing, tools, etc. They had Amy's bean burritos for a while at about a buck apiece, sold by case of 12. For staples like good cuts of meat, cheeses, coffee, etc. you can usually count on seeing more on the shelves later. I'm lucky that the nearest one is pretty much on my way home, so I don't have to make a huge excursion out of it. Also, Costco gas is almost always a great deal. |

We have a membership and saved over the cost of the membership the first month on dog food alone...
Some things that you use a lot of and can stock up on like toilet paper, canned tuna, etc are great deals. Its hard to come out of there without spending $250 for us and thats probably on the low end for a lot of people. The Kirkland brand is hard to beat. They negotiate some awesome deals with great companies and pass it on to the members. Do eet |

Executive easily pays for itself.
Meat and booze are great there.

Good dog food but stay away from most treats. They are all made in China.

Family of four, with Costco close by. Exec member. If you shop during the week, the exec membership allows you to get in early to avoid lines. Pizza is a great value. Kirkland brand items are high quality. Gas is best prices around, and safer due to not taking cash.

So let's break it down. How does it compare to Sams?
I don't have one local, but one 100 miles away in San Antonio. Thinking about it. |
