BROOKLYN — An undercover NYPD officer rushing in to aid uniformed colleagues making an arrest kicked one of them in the head after apparently mistaking him for a suspect, a video obtained by DNAinfo New York shows.
The undercover anti-crime unit officer from the 60th Precinct, whose identity was not released, was stripped of his gun and badge and placed on modified duty after the 90-second clip surfaced, officials said View Quote |

Kicked the cop, realized he made a mistake, rubbed the back of the cop's head "Sorry Bro" and then corrected himself by punching the "perp" in the face.
He's a very stable individual for sure. |

That wasn't a kick--it was a love tap to let him know he was there. A kick from a big strapping youth like that would have ended with a field goal.

Now we know why cops hate civilians recording them. The officer only got in trouble once the video surfaced. That means all the officers involved in that mess failed to include that information in their report. They should all be suspended without pay in my book.

Now we know why bystanders don't want to jump in to help. Because they are too busy filming or because of the bad attitude of many officers towards civilians causing us to say "not my job"? Not to mention the officers have the ability to cover up their own actions when they screw up, which is what happened in this case until that damn civilian posted the video. I'll leave the close combat arrests to the armed officers with bullet proof vests.

I had a lady attack me with a baseball bat, and when she swung, I dove to tackle her and another officer hit me in the head with his nightstick. It hurt'ed me.

Idiot, let his emotions override his brain. You don't ever kick someone in the freaking head unless you're looking for some serious trouble in your life, and in that case the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

Do they just not teach cops to watch their backs anymore? Or if there are 87 cops trying to cuff a dude, maybe at least one of them should keep an eye on the rest of the world around them?
The person with the camera could have grabbed that OC's gun and killed at least 4 of those cops.... tunnel-vision, big time. |

Where do you find theses videos, OP? I would laugh but it would be rude and mean!

this is TOO funny.
it wasn't even serious kick. and over that stupidity, this guy's headline isn't going away for a while. in this administration, he'll be lucky to still have a desk job I can't wait for universal body cams. It will defend the large majority of good ones (see that sex assault charge yesterday?) and thoroughly eradicate the bad apples (of which there are few, but wow they don't belong in uniform). |

I guess I'm surprised he got in that much trouble for accidentally kicking the wrong guy. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

A retired deputy told me to always knock someone over in a fight and kick them, "your legs are stronger than your hands and you don't get broken bones and shit that way" Guess that was before video camera.

I used to be in the cop equipment business... a bunch of the companies still put "Sap Pockets" in their uniform pants... and even still call them that. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

NYPD's regular uniform pants still have it and saps have been forbidden for decades there. |

My prediction: Cop that was kicked sustained a career ending injury, given full tax free disability pension. The department will FULLY investigate the incident, the kicking cop will receive some "sensitivity training" or something to that effect and will be back on the street within a week.
