They're cheap at $329. Comes with two mags.

Thoughts?

I have a couple and they are very popular with film guys and in the reenactor groups.

They work well but the hammers are prone to failure.  Replacement hammers are available now and many guys have moded an 870 hammer to work.

Otherwise they are a lot  of fun, just not practical unless you SBR the thing.  Most guys put the sling over their shoulder and pull it tight for support.

It will definitely get the SBR treatment if I get one.

Only if it's the 9mm version. And then I can't see much use outside of a novelty. Unless I could figure out a way to put a Sig Brace on the thing.

A buddy of mine bought the 9mm version.  He SBR'ed it.  It's a blast to shoot.

ETA: He e-filed his Form 1.  It only took ~30 days to get his stamp back.

Get the 9mm. I picked up my 9mm one for 299 from classic firearms. I love that dang gun. Don't buy any of the damn 9mm magazines though. they suck. Just get the 7.62x25 ones. they work way better.

The PPS43C that Cassic offers, use the same PPS43 magazines.

They're different from the PPSh 41 magazines...if that's what you're asking.

No, I have both a PPsH-41 and a Full Auto and Semi PPS-43.  I was wondering if the mod to the PPS-43 mags to use them in the AR would still allow it to work in the PPS-43?  The days of $3 mags are over and if I can swing both ways with them that would be even more cool.

I go pick up my Mp-40 today but it will not be molested for obvious reasons!

I should have been more clear in my question.

Yep, I build a Polish PPSh 41 semi-auto about 2 years ago.  Right about that time, all the surplus disappeared and the price tripled!

I have one.

I am going to say 'NO'.

If you want something short, then go with AR pistol.

In my opinion, the closed bolt of the 43C is not well designed since it is based on full auto bolt with forward momentum, in semi auto I don't think it has enough weight.
The FCG looks like pencil.  Very skinny compared to AR or AK fcgs

I know  A LOT of guys who have thousands of rounds through theirs.  Other than the known problem with the weak hammer they work very well and are very reliable.

Remember this is the "Leningrad Special". It was made to be cheap and easy to make and work.  It fills that role well.

Starline makes the brass and prvi makes the ammo. I have lots of surplus so I don't shoot much Prvi but it isn't hard to find and beets 9mm in every way but price.

Without a PPS-43 in front of me, I don't know.

Measure your mag well.  The width at the back is ~.820" on an unmodified 43 magazine.

The magazine mod for my AR required cutting a mag catch hole.  Then making a very small tack weld at the lower edge of the hole, and filing it down to where it sticks up .030"-.035", then squaring it off with the mag catch hole.  This weld mimics the stamped protrusion on AR magazines which prevent the magazine from traveling past the mag catch during insertion.

If there's enough slop in the mag well of your 43s, the mod won't affect the magazine's use in the 43.

ETA:  You're obviously going to need a mag well adapter for the AR.  The size of the weld on the magazine will depend on your mag well adapter wall thickness, but it's still an easy process to complete.  I have a heavy duty all steel mag well adapter that I use (pictured in my previous post).  Also have an adapter stamped out of thin stainless with a Delrin feed ramp that works just fine, but I don't use because I don't like how the mags look when inserted (they sit further back in the AR mag well).  Picky picky, I know...but I like asthetics too.

Mine is a blast! I really want to SBR it, but I am a tightwad.

Have about 8k rds of 7.62x25 stashed back, so ammo shouldn't be a problem for a while.

Thanks for the pictures.

With the tack weld it is a no-go in the PPS-43.

The mag adapter I use is from cncgunsparts.com, and they have a new design that doesn't require you to weld a tack, just make the cutout.  It uses the original mag stop on the magazine to prevent over travel past the mag catch.

I spoke with Justin, same guy who machined my dedicated AR45 lower.  He GAVE me the mag block, but that was back in '09 as it was in beta testing.  So anything you get from him now is going to have the corrections for the least amount of work necessary on your mags.  Not sure of the price, it's POR.  Nice guy to talk to, I'm sure he'll do good for you if you decide to build a Tok AR.

Pretty easy to convert to 9mm

Only one pin holding the barrel on.

9mm barrels are available.

Wish someone would make a way to attach a sig brace without
Welding a castle nut onto the lower. Maybe ala ak pristol.

Thanks,  I give him a call when I get the chance.

Those of you looking at the 9mm should look at the Kp-44.  It is a Finnish copy in 9mm with a mag cut out to take the Soumi drums as well as the Sticks.  Get a Soumi and the mags are interchangeable though the Soumi is a beast in weight for a 9mm.  Many of the parts are interchangeable.

Well, ya' know, I got pissed when a spam can went up to $35 for 1220 rounds.  Not feeling it. Ask Aim if they will sell it to you at $4 a box.  The same price 9mm WWB was when 7.62x25 was $35 a spam can.

It is beautiful ammo though.  Non-corrosive.

I have both Serbian commercial and the surplus but from years ago.  Here's a bit of trivia:  I wanted to buy the Yugo surplus 7.62X25 in a sealed spam can/crate.  IIRC, it was from Widener's who was listing it by the box only with a quantity discount.  I asked about getting the sealed spam/wood crate but apparently they were so heavy they could not be shipped!

Ammo max shipping weight is 62 pounds.  If they included the crate it would be over weight.
