IN!  I just got my telescope dialed in.
I'm using a Parks Jovian 90 telescope - A typical 90 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain optical tube but armored, "waterproof," and nitrogen filled; with an Orion 4.1" solar filter.  Canon EOS Rebel T2i is attached, ISO and exposure set.  With the f/13.3 scope and filter, ISO 800 at 1/250 second seems about right.  I may try a lower ISO setting and increase the exposure but my mount is pretty shaky.  Training it on the Sun and focusing are not easy.
I have a clear sky.  Because of my longitude the Sun is very high in the sky.  East coasters should be able to get some dramatic sunset imagery.

I am still waiting here in South Texas.

FYI if you have two floppy 3.5 disks stack them and use the internal media as a filter.

Looks like it's time to make a pinhole projection viewer

Higher resolution version with levels adjusted a bit.  Try zooming in on this.  The big sunspots look kind of cool.

And you can see the coronal ejection in the center of the sun ( that dark spot ).  I was able to see it with a welding helmet.

Try refreshing.  I just replaced that with a better one.  I need to spend some time picking and Photoshopping before I have a really good collection.  I have next to zero experience with solar photography.

Here's a couple images I took with my Olympic digital SLR with a 300mm lens. I wish I had gotten some material to make a filter for my telescope.

Orion Telescope has a line of reasonably priced solar filters in a wide range of sizes.  They're glass with a stainless steel film.  Can't get a good link on my phone right now.

Sunspots, not coronal ejection.

Cloudy as fuck here in the NW - we've had 2+ inches of rain in the last couple of days, and had a tornado about 20 miles north of me earlier today. It's always cloudy for eclipses around here

I know, I used to have an off axis Lumicon filter for my 10" LX200 GPS, sold that a few years ago. Had about 10K tied up in equipment, SBIG CCD camera, filter wheel, assorted filters, lenses, etc. etc. and sold it all because I was traveling so much, got divorced and needed money.
Now I have an Orion SkyView Pro 8". For this eclipse I had 2 pairs of paper solar filter glasses that was in an Astronomy magizine from back in something like 1998 or so, I took one of the filters from one pair and made a filter cell for the camera lens.

ETA. I hope our friends further north had clear skies, from what I read it was supposed to be about 75 to 80 percent coverage in the Dakotas and Canada. I can't wait till 2017 when we will have a full eclipse in the USA. WOO HOO!!!

I was lucky enough on the drive home to see it as a crescent setting sun through a hole in the cloud cover!  Very cool!

Yes!  Binocular projection works.  My mom taught me that back in the '60s.
