I understand that. Just one of those things I've wondered about. During his trip to DC he has the rank of Sergeant on his uniform, but the guy that gives him his discharge papers calls him Pvt Gump.

I watched it, once. I thought it was one of the stupidest movies of all time. I like a lot of oddball movies too, and most of Tom Hanks work, but for some reason that movie is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
