Just saw this movie. It was great. Awesome film.

I as well.
One of the darker movies I've seen. I thought it was darker than the Pacific even. And SPR. Glad to see the Tiger moving about, that scene was well put together. |
|
I wish my dad and uncle could have seen this movie and saving private ryan...:(
Both WWII vets |

I saw it tonight. I also thought it was pretty good. I was particularly impressed by Shia LaBeouf's performance. I haven't liked him, or his offscreen shit, any time before, but he was actually quite good.
|
|
Shia Lewhatever's acting was pretty good.
The action was fun, kinda unrealistic, but not so unrealistic that it sucked. The Bible quoting characters weren't caricatures or the usual crazy religious people, which was refreshing. The scene where the young frau got arty'd was supposed to be dark, but I thought it was hilarious. Click To View Spoiler Defending the tank at the end was a great ending, but was really dumb. They should have fought a battle of retreat while sending one guy running back to alert the front lines. Also they would have had infantry support IRL. |
|
I liked it a lot................especially the scene where the Shermans engaged the German AT guns in the woods and all of them opened up at once

Pretty intense, dark film. I thought it was excellent. Obviously, it wasn't perfect (what is?) but overall I liked it.
|
|
Meh. Dumb movie.
"Hey! There's a Tiger! Let's all charge head first into it so it can pick us all off one at a time!" {CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC} Or better yet: Four hours into the final firefight, the SS decide to all sit down in neat rows while the officer paces back and forth in front of them preaching "VE MUST VIN THIS VIGHT!!!". Because that's what you do in the middle of a firefight. Then, they all jump and grab their rocket launchers because oh hey, we didn't think to use those in the first four hours of the fight. Fury is just more Hollywood Tripe for people that feel but don't think. |

Saw it, liked it a lot. I don't think comparing this to SPR is fair to either movie.
The tank on tank battle was intense. |

Click To View Spoiler That scene pissed me off almost as much as the ending scene. PaK40s firing at M4A1 or M4A3E8 from ambush at 100 or so yards would not have bounced, it would've turned the fucking crew into hamburger. Pak40 could pen over 100mm of armor at 500m! M4A1 had, what, less than 60mm of armor? Even with slope angle it's still effectively less than what PaK40 firing APCR could pen. Why go through the trouble of being so accurate with so many technical aspect for this sort of stuff to be included? I know why: "Hollywood." Sigh.
And the Tiger scene: so you know you can smoke the Tiger, then you charge, WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU KEEP SMOKING HIM UNTIL YOU GET PAST HIM? Let's just keep shooting at him with stuff that magically bounces (the 76mm on Fury a with its 109mm pen at 500m alone could pen a Tiger with it's 100mm vertical armor from the front very easily at that range) while he picks everyone off but titular vehicle. Same thing for the panzerfausts sparking on the armor. I guess one did finally get through, but I mean come on, there were guys on the Eastern Front with a dozen or more kills with 'fausts from farther away than that. Still, I liked it and will get the Blu-ray. |
|
I thought it was the moviefication of the old TV series about "The story of a horse, and the boy who loved him."
Guess not. |
|
Can't say I enjoyed it much at all.
The tank battles were well done, but in general I believe our soldiers of WWII (my grandfather and father in law included) were far better men than portrayed in that film. Band of Brothers was a masterpiece. Fury, sought to portray a more gritty style of tank warfare, but ended up making virtually the whole tank crew (and American Soldiers) look like a band of psychopaths. Did I mention I didn't really care for it? |
|
I saw it yesterday, my takeaway is:
Brad Pitt saw Saving Private Ryan and determined that this fucking time not everyone was gonna die because of some cowardly clerk. The grease gun tutorial was excellent, "Cover up, you're killin', cover down, you're not". Hard for me to hate Shia Le Douche as much as I did before this movie. |

But yeah, I don't think they would have bounced. I think the movie compressed actual ranges for the visual affect.
You hear the Tiger commander saying "600 Meters" and shit, but the M4s were within 100. And what Tiger commander with any experience at all would shoot the M4 before he shot the A3E8? Some lack of Tactical Priority. Heck, he was probably a noob. Then IRL, the Tiger wouldn't have been able to traverse his turret fast enough to get on Fury at the ranges they showed. They had traversed left of center to shoot the last M4, then Fury gets around behind them, about 180 degrees from where the gun was. That would take 45 to 60 seconds for the Tiger to traverse just to get a shot on them. Oh well, it's all nitpicky... I think they conveyed the message that being a tanker was scary as fuck! |

pretty good movie until the end where you had to suspend disbelief to enjoy it
i'll most likely still buy it though |

Bragg pits body looked pretty good for being blown up by two potatoe mashers ..I mean he literally looked like pristine Jesus
