So OP, what countries can a Serb travel to or not these days? What's the mechanism for saying no? Is it the destination nation's policies or what?
This is American privilege based ignorance talking. I'm embarrassed to say I'm pretty used to being able to go about anywhere I want with my pretty blue passport. I can only think of a handful of countries I can't go to, so I'm not used to it. Anyway, dumb questions: Is there free travel between Serbia and the EU/US/etc? I know I can go to other former Yugo places, and that our visa process is a bit impenetrable for some nationalities. |

Stop being objective and fair minded. Regardless of the reason for their belonging to a given religion, their culture includes an unconscious but nearly complete abdication of personal responsibility that flows FROM certain religions. When you live your life subject to everything happening only if (deity) wills it, you stop taking responsibility. For everything. It's easy because it's all deity's doing if something bad happens, or if the neighborhood looks like shit and there's no food. It's not my fault because deity willed it so. If you've ever driven in the land of "if (deity" wills it) you'll know what I'm talking about. Brakes? Signals? Lol! This isn't to say that any given faith is better than any other. Just that those including such provisions tend to have predictable societal effects after a time. |

View Quote Yeah, I wish it was easier to go and work in some kind of a normal country (I mean a country with decent living standards). But getting a regular visa is hard enough, getting work visa is... challenging. You have to have a job waiting for you (the company has to send you some sort of "invitation letter") and even then it is hard. A buddy from my college got invited to work at Facebook (he previously did a summer internship there, and they offered him a job when he gets through the college) and his work visa request got declined, so they transferred him to their Canadian office (and Canada approved his work visa) |

It’s ironic that it is raining in your pic. I was there in the summer of 2011 and got tickets for an open-roof bus tour around the city, just like this one The bus follows a specific route around the major touristy areas. You can listen to the historical backgrounds of the places through the supplied headphones (pre-recorded) on the bus and it would stop at different spots for passengers to get out. There were multiple busses so you could take your time checking out the area and hitch a ride with another tourist bus later with the same ticket. Well, my bus started at Hotel Moskva, rode around the city, and halfway through the trip the skies suddenly darkened. 5-minutes later there was this epic monsoon of a rainstorm pouring an ocean of water. There was water was gushing down the steep roads and alleys like a freaking white-water river (it would've been awesome kayaking down those streets), and here we were in a roofless bus. Pedestrians huddled under building overhangs or café tents and were looking at us like I just kept laughing the rest of the ride until we got dropped off back at Moskva and went inside soaking wet as if I had jumped into the Dunav. The rain didn’t let up and the hotel I was staying at was a few blocks away, so we just ended up eating lunch there at Moskva, while totally soaked. Good times! |

Here is a fun fact that I am sure not alot of people are familiar with.....
When the Serbian flag flew over the White House..... As far as Serbian and Russian languages, they have alot of similar words. If you know one it would be pretty easy to pick up the other one quickly. |
