Brazil would not be a good place in which Ebola to gets loose. The slums around Sao Paulo would be as fertile a ground for the disease as the slums or Monrovia and Lagos. Not to mention the specter of next ear's Carnivale skin fest becoming a mass Ebola transmission fest.
But if any place in South America is likely to see Ebola occur, it is going to be Brazil. |

Suspected, not confirmed. So, subbed for updates. If there is an uncontrolled outbreak in Brazil, that would be bad news. You'd start seeing border and traffic control measures all over the world that would really impair trade and the economy... not to mention the abundance of deaths. The US government and UN officials have both made low key public statements about an expectation that millions of people in Africa will be infected before this is done. Serious bidness on the horizon. |

Suspected. Relax, you bunch of muppets. View Quote You have a point. No one should make assumptions or otherwise speculate about what future events may occur should the suspected case turn into a confirmed case. It's not like we're on a forum where people engage in such behavior concerning a variety of subjects. This is the internet, and it's serious business. |

Looking at a map, Brazil doesn't seem like that much of a flight from West Africa. Probably less than 5 hours.
And they have a pretty substantial African ethnic population (and corresponding prejudice against Blacks). I have a feeling the Brazilians wouldn't run a quarantine like we would. |

No screening will be done on that traveler. |

It sucks for the worker in Spain, but everyone else in Spain will probably be just fine. It's the shitholes that have to worry. I'll keep an eye on it all, I'm just not able to get my imagination to run wild so early. Hopefully, this turns out to be dengue or something similar.

Oh shit! If it's hit Brazil then we're fucked. You think the current wave of illegals is bad, just wait and see what happens if this turns out to be true. Exactly, it will be a 3 fold problem, waves fleeing infected areas heading to the US to avoid it, waves of the infected heading to the US thinking it is their best chance for getting a cure, and that wave of infected infecting untold numbers on their way to get to the US which will in turn create more infected areas creating a vicious and deadly cycle. |
