Hi everyone,
I graduated last year from the University of Commiefornia, where the cop pepper-sprayed that hippie, with a BS in biotechnology. I am going back to school this coming spring for mechanical engineering because I really hate working in the pharmaceutical field. So far two schools have accepted me: Embry Riddle Daytona Beach and UNLV. I am seeking the knowledge of the hive on these two schools so I can make a better informed decision. ER looks like it has a 8 to 2 male to female ratio, does that kill the fun factor?

Thank you.

TLDR: UNLV or Embry Riddle Daytona Beach, which school for mechanical engineering?

If you're looking at Nevada the real University of Nevada (in Reno) has a much better engineering program than UNLV.  Embry Riddle is extremely expensive, too.

What are the cost comparisons?

Are the alumni networks at either better for linking up with jobs?

Thought it was more about "tech" than bio. But it turns out to be 90% bio

I wouldn't worry about the number of girls at Embry Riddle, from what I saw of the place when I visited there during college there were plenty of girls at the parties and bars from neighboring Daytona State College.

Just submitted application to Lamar U.

A lot of the refineries and chemical plants in SE Texas hire tons of people that graduate from Lamar.
No matter where you go, try and get an internship in a company that you wouldn't mind working for once you graduate.

Best Mechanical Engineering Schools

Best ROI - Engineering Schools

Only one school has a 10% or better ROI and appears on the Mechanical Engineering top 10 list.  The choice is clear.

Don't worry about M:F ratio. You'll be spending all your time working, if its a real engineering program.
