Heck, yeah.    Look in the hometown forum for more details.    Sparks usually posts round counts and times.    Everyone is always welcome.   He puts on a good show.    Just expect to get dirty, smoky, scuffed up, and have a ton of fun.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the zombie shoot.

You didn't miss it.....  18th of Oct.

I just got a facebook invite for it from Sparks556.

Sweet! Dferg and I hit a house together down here and were talking about it.

Can I play?

The kids got a couple neck ribs cut out, and we got them fitted up on the first two vertebrae.   They look good, but the pattern needs adjusted a bit, and they need routered on the outside edge.    We are going to round off the outer edges to give it a more finished look.

We had one boo boo already; my student cutting out the ribs, managed to cut about two inches into my table..  Little bondo, and it will be fine.   I was just shaking my head.

Update 10/3

A few neck ribs cut out and fitted to the neck.    We've got all the rest laid out, they just need cut out.   We were only going to use three different patterns on the neck, but decided to make one more and use four, as it will make the transition from each size less drastic.

We discussed weight distribution today; considering how much more the neck and head would weigh than the tail.   We don't want the thing to be too unbalanced when we go to hang it.    The torso will be the only part with cables attached; if the head and neck are too heavy, it will nose dive on us when hung up.

You should make sure the school board is in attendance @ the hanging ceremony.  Aim carefully.  When the cable breaks, the dragon will sail majestically into two-bit politicians.  Extra points for a remote activated propane flamethrower.

Yes they are......

And to add, one of the guys who made your bow is trying to get started making another for himself.  He just can't seem to remember to go out and get a limb to work on.

Lucky for me, I just make him work on the dragon instead.

There will be a new moose taxidermy thread in a few weeks or a month.   . An old friend got one this weekend, and he'd asked me when he got the tag if I would do it for him.   Should be a fun project.   I'm looking forward to it.

Those are, of course, the inspiration for our project.    It was the only way I could think that we could do this justice.     Hopefully we can add our own spin on the idea.

Update 10/8

This has been pretty slow so far.    One jigsaw only can cut so much.

Here a young lady is fitting some of the four different sizes of ribs on the neck.
</a>IMG_20141008_120131_048 by guns762, on Flickr" />

Here all the ribs are fitted and cut out.  They all still need to be routered.   We were discussing how that would effect the ability to attach scales; so we held off, but will probably get on that soon.
</a>IMG_20141008_120740_728 by guns762, on Flickr" />

</a>IMG_20141008_120714_619 by guns762, on Flickr" />

Here students are designing the skull.   We think we are going to use 6 large pieces.  That may change.   This will be a dorsal piece in the center of the skull.
They had the dall sheep skull, as well as renderings as references.
</a>IMG_20141007_093807_247 by guns762, on Flickr" />

They young lady is holding up the stencil to see if it will work as depicted.   This does not include the lower jaw, or upper teeth.   It's just a cross section of the upper skull.
