There is a 1200 defender on GB going for $250 right now.
But $290 is not bad at all.
I paid $260 for mine on GB three years ago.

If you need a shotgun, you should fo.

This is a sort-of dupe, by the way. Odd that we've had two 1300 threads in GD in a week.

Paid $235 for mine at local gun store in Denver.  Was going to fo on a mossy 590A1, but then I found the 1300. Mines exactly like the one on top.

It's such a light, well balanced shotgun with a great "stock" payload!

Do it!

No, 1300 is better, it has an extra 100

Well the 1200 is a true Winchester if that means anything.
Looks the very same as the 1300.

Can the 1200 chamber 3 inch shells?

Best action ever made in a shotgun.  Go for it.

I've had a 1300 for years. Well worth the price. It has been one of my favorites over time.

Honestly I can't remember if it does but I am thinking it does.
I never use 3 inch rounds as the shotgun is so light I would not even want the extra kick.

Less aftermarket parts than a 500 or an 870. New 870s MAY have rusting going on on the receiver and some QC issues, go with Mossberg. Super easy barrel changes, cheap, huge aftermarket and indestructible.

I have three 870s, four Benelli, more Brownings than I can shake a stick at, a FN SLP, and even a KSG. I'm not a Mossberg Fan.

This is just an interesting shotgun that I've never owned.

this...just rack it fast and hard and you should not have any issue, if you rack it slow and soft, it may jam.

I actually like my Defender more than my rifle sighted 870 Police.
It just fits me better.

Nice shotguns that have a loyal but small fan base.  Not a lot of after market goodies. Remington and Mossberg outsell them by a huge margin.

I bought 2 when our local PD went from Shotguns to Patrol Rifles.  Got them for $125 each!

Few nicks and scratches from the ticket book riding against the stock for years, but they cleaned up pretty well.

I would hope so. The Winchester 1300 has been discontinued since 2006.

I bought one a few years ago in a FTF private sale. I got it for $200. It was in excellent condition and had been used very, very little. But yeah, if it is coming from a shop, $290 is probably about as cheap as you're gonna find one these days.

Yes you did well.
And since you asked earlier in the day about my 1200 using 3 inch shells the answer is definitely yes.
I pulled my 1200 Defender out of the safe and it was stamped 2 3/4 or 3 inch.

My favorite pump.  I have two and an 870.  870 never gets shot.
