On military flights, are you free to move around the cabin/cargo?  Are there more or less rules compared to commercial flights?

C141 in troop seats from Denmark to Eglin AFB. No heater. That sucked and was much more than 14 hours.
We did stop in New Jersey because the plane caught on fire over the Atlantic.

I've done about 22 hours on a plane (coach seat) with two brief layovers.  Was praying to die.  There just isn't an easy way to do it. I've tried alcohol, sleeping pills, pills to stay up, trying to sleep when you are not tired, NOTHING works for flights that long.  Upon arriving, I'm worthless for at least 2 days.

yep- depends on cargo really.  a lot of times there is nothing in them... get up anytime ya want or go lay in a warm corner of the floor.  got a c-17 from msp to hik--probably the best flight I have ever been on...

I actually run the machine that cuts out all the different large sections of the wings on the A380 along with all the other Airbus planes. Make wing pieces for all the Boeing planes too. The largest single piece on the A380 wing is about 1340 inches long. Finished pieces travel by semi from Iowa to Baltimore. The entire trailer is loaded on a ship for Manchester England where they are finish machined and the wing sub assemblies are built

Went first class (international class) from ATL to Hawaii a month ago...badass.  First class only has four seats across...on by the window, the an aisle, then the two middle seats which a roughly three feet apart, then another aisle, and then the window seat on the opposite side.  It was fucking awesome!  Each seat was like a luxury studio apartment.

I made 5 round trips from Japan to the US in a two year span.  The main leg was from Tokyo and usually flying into Atlanta for 12:30:00 flight time.  Route was Okinawa to Tokyo (hopefully flying into Narita so I didn't have to take a bus from Haneda to Narita), then Tokyo to mainly Atlanta (once to Chicago), and then to Cleveland.  Each way would take around 24 hours total in flights and layovers.

The main 12:30:00 flight really wasn't bad if you did it right.  Firstly, those Delta flights have the personal touchscreen TV's that had a good selection of new movies that hadn't even hit PPV yet.  So in order to beat jet lag and prepare myself for lots of sleep, I did not go to sleep the night before and stayed up all night drinking....literally.  I always had a ride to the airport either way, so I was sipping my last beer/mixed drink at 6-8am before heading to the AP.  By the time I made it through security, hangover was starting to kick in and I could barely stay awake.

I'd usually miss the first 1-2 meals on the flight, but I slept as long as 8 hours straight one time.  Wake up just in time for the dinner cart, watch 2 movies, and it was time to land.  Do it right and those flights are a breeze.

This picture does not do justice to the overwhelming size of the A380.

Was taxiing past this one in at IAH a few months ago. I was in an ERJ145 and was literally off the nose of this beauty. I don't know how far we were from it we taxied directly in front of it.

It's a beast up close. While the 747 is still queen of the skies that thing is mammoth.

Had a male Delta flight attendant serving me beers when I was 20 on my way back from Japan.  I approached him and asked, "Since we're in Japan where it's legal, can I order as a 20 y/o?"  He said they couldn't because they followed the destination nation's laws.....but then said, "but I'll take care of you ."

I got 8 free beers before I told him I was going to nap for a little while and I appreciated the drinks.  It was only by the 4th beer that I began to realize he was gay and hitting on me.

The largest passenger jet in the world, the Airbus A380, landed Monday at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, completing the longest currently flown nonstop route in the world.

The 8,600-mile flight was the first of what will be six weekly, nonstop flights on Australia's Qantas Airways between Sydney's Kingsford Smith International Airport and DFW.  The flights will depart and arrive every day but Tuesday and are expected to take just under 15 hours to DFW and 15 hours and 30 minutes to Australia.

Air doesn't scale, the wings are much higher up, diminishing ground effect.

Long flights are not bad once you get used to it. Upgrades are nice but not required. Get up and move a lot. Window seat recommended. Sleep on destination schedule so you transition easier. No worries.
I always buy a bottle of rum at the duty free shop.  Free rum and cokes the whole flight.

Oh he was a full blooded White American.

That was actually a cool ass flight, though.  It was so under booked that even before we taxied out of the gate, they came over the PA and said there were so many empty seats that everyone could move to where ever they wanted.  At least half of us had our own row.

Which made for quite the conundrum once I realized Mr. Flight Attendant was trying to get me drunk.....Did I lay head towards the aisle and risk a drink cart to the dome, or go ass to the aisle and risk a mile high prostate exam while I was passed out?
