Saw this on a facebook gun group. Looks like they made off with quite a few NFA weapons and a shitload of ammo. I don't know why the fuck they would leave that shit in a damn box trailer without someone pulling guard on it

Asshats that did this sure as shit didn't go through any Background Check, and they didn't use the "Gun Show Loophole" either.

The owners posted in an indy gun forum that one of the guns stolen was a M249

Looks like someone is going to have a fun weekend of shooting.

I think I know the owner of that trailer...he is a retired marine scout sniper that now does "logistics". Off to make a phone call.......
Eta: whew, not him. |

Guys...lets not jump to conclusions yet. Calling the owner an idiot is a pretty bold statement, but of course easy for any keyboard commando to post.
I know the owner and he has a very reputable business. I'm sure that in addition to being pretty ticked that he had a bunch of stuff stolen, that he's pretty ticked off at himself for the circumstances. From what I've read, the trailer was loaded up for a reloading swap meet that he helps organize, and the entire trailer was stolen, perhaps by being winched up onto a roll back or a flat bed trailer. Definitely someone new there were guns in there, and had a pretty bold plan to go after it. |

Hell I have a safe bolted inside my car to hold a $600 pistol if I can't take it in where I am going. |

What's the black market value on NFA stuff? I can't imagine it being anywhere near the legal market price.
I was at Knob Creek a few years back when rumor circulated that an M60 was lifted off a table. I hate thieves.

This is one of those perfect examples of "Loose lips sink ships" An employee mentioned it to a friend, a what do you know, missing trailer.

If I had to leave that much value in a trailer overnight, I'd box it in against the back of the building with an RV and sleep there.

Thinking out loud - Someone knew the trailer's contents?

Didn't something very similar happen in PA just this past spring or winter too? Anyone know what the outcome was? I lost track of that thread and forgot about it until just now.

These days leaving any type of box trailer unattended, especially overnite is asking to lose it. Hopefully the guys who stole this are going "oh shit" right now and didn't steal it knowing specifically what was in there with the intentions of using the contents for bad things. |

Trailer theft is a hobby for crooks . It happens all the time at car shows and at races . They steal a trailer and have no idea what is inside.

I don't know why the fuck they would leave that shit in a damn box trailer without someone pulling guard on it because most people dont treat guns like weapons of mass destruction, unless you're a lib the problem in not the storage in the trailer, ITS FUCKING THEIVES No, the problem is that the gun store thought that a trailer was an acceptable place to store firearms (or any other merchandise) and didn't put a guard on it. Would you leave that much money inside a little trailer and a big sign next to it that says "Valuable shit locked inside and we didn't post a guard." Thieves are a fact of life. Just like muggers, murderers, and rapists. While we do hold the crime committer accountable, we also believe that individuals should take accountability for their own actions and minimize their risk. Most of us don't go out for a jog at 3 am. Most of us wouldn't encourage our female friends/relatives to go out drinking alone at 1 am. Most of us carry, not because we want to feel bad ass, but because we accept that there are bad people and wish to have an option to survive a potential encounter with those people. Likewise, most business owners/operators recognize that thieves have always and will always be present and they endeavor to discourage and prevent theft as much as possible. In this case, the LGS owner/operator did not do enough. Locking up valuable equipment outside in a trailer is not a good place. Not that they should have expected it to be stolen, but it really shouldn't surprise them. At the end of the day, locks are for honest people. |

View Quote Guy brings about twenty, rare, collectible Thompsons. Sets them up at the show in glass cases, with absurd prices on them, like $350k for a non "storied one", sits around the entire show trying to stay awake. Sells nothing and isn't too talkative. After the last day, he parks all the collectable, rare Thompsons in the best place in town to put a vehicle to get broken into (behind the hotel, no overhead lights) next day: "omg they're all stolen!" Everyone with a pulse around here knows it was an insurance scam and all those Thomsons are in the guy's basement. |
