Apparently carry optics is a real thing now. The BOD approved it as a provisional division. I think it's retarded. Level one only, so when nobody shoots it, it won't go anywhere in all likelihood. Unless all the three gunners start coming to matches to get some extra practice with the dot. This crowd that does that around here just shoots Open with their mags loaded up. I doubt they're going to want to play in a 10 round division. Only time will tell. Production is the most popular division around here, usually the most people by far. I really haven't heard of anyone talking about PO so it's hard to tell if it will be participated in. |

Have the provisional rules for Carry Optics been posted? (Is it as I and some others hoped - just Production with the allowance for a slide-mounted dot?)

My question is how many people actually carry with optics and live life. Having a pile of awesome on your hip while perusing the gun rags at Walmart is a far cry from how I live. Even a G19, IWB, is a lot sometimes. Running, riding horse, working on and around the property, kayaking, etc....... Now plaster a microdot on that bad boy and tell me how many actually carry it. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like a photo thread fad, not a real event. View Quote FWIW, I personally know two people that regularly carry guns with dots. |

Who cares what a USPSA member wants to shoot as long as they're shooting. Why should I care if people jump ship from Production over to Carry Optics? |

seems alot of people are really pissed over the carry optics shibang.
I think what they mean by carry optics are something you would strap on your side and go for a hike. I do it with my G34 all the time because I like the gun and it carries well OWB, but I doubt someone would strap on a 40oz CZ to go for a walk. I believe alot of people assume "carry optics" means a CCDW gun I get people are pissed because of the weight limit cutting out alot of the production list guns, to be honest I dont really care as I dont own anything but glocks and 1911's while I can see their point of hey I can shoot production with this gun but not the new division with the same rules just adding an optic, but I am still an infant in the sport of competitive shooting. which leads me to my next question, what the hell is the difference between the CZ guns and Tanfoglio's? They look the same? ETA: something to consider, the G34 MOS isnt even on the production list despite my contacting them 3 months ago but its assumed it will be GTG for carry optics |

which leads me to my next question, what the hell is the difference between the CZ guns and Tanfoglio's? View Quote Tanfos started as pretty true-to-form CZ clones, but have somewhat evolved into their own form, especially in their large frame offerings. In fact, there isn't really a CZ equivalent frame size for the Tanfo 'large frame'. Which is actually why I don't have a CZ open gun, as it is impossible to get one built in what I consider to be the 'correct' open caliber. The older small-frame Tanfos had a lot of parts interchangeable with CZ, but the new ones less so, and the large-frames not at all. |

Didn't bother with video... gssf is fun to participate in but pretty boring on video. I should have recorded my plate rack runs if nothing else.
The "pocket glock" category is a bit scary since you're limited to the 6+1 42 or 43, but I went 24/24 with it. My time for the plates on that one was pretty slow in comparison to the others but when you have one extra shot, you make sure to be more careful. One plate left standing is a 10 second penalty, which would be pretty devastating. |

The preliminary results are usually out in a couple of days, you can look at the scores and figure it out. They are out for 30 days to allow for any corrections, then the results are finalized and the prizes are awarded.
It's a few months between the match and the time you get a prize gun, so GSSF is not for the impatient |

Keeping in mind I added them up manually in the back seat of the car on the interstate (to allow myself math errors for when the real scores are out):
Pocket= 42.66 Sub Compact = 57.21(my best in the past was 56.xx) Heavy metal = 49.89 Master stock =42.64 I only had two D's for the day on one string on the Subcompact. My master stock run was all alphas for Glock M and two Cs for the 5 to Glock. Way, way cleaner than I've shot before. The MS would have won matchmiester at the last match I shot. |
