Pretty well for day one. The only guys ahead of me are Sevigny and several masters. I'm kinda nervous to see the results from today. I tagged a no-shoot and miked into the hardcover on a tuxedo hoser, but otherwise had a clean match and shot a high percentage of the points. I should have beaten the Production M that was on my squad with me. That's my only regret. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Should be proud of that one.
I just got done shooting mine... went pretty well but I bombed the classifier something awful. Cleaned one field stage with all alphas. I'll have videos up later. |

What is the purpose of squading? What do you mean? It seems to not matter what division or class you shoot, as to what squad you are in. It's a social sport. Makes it practical to rotate through stages. Each squad has their own RO's, score keepers, shooters etc. |

Alright, question time. Whenever you see a lot of the "tactical" guys like Costa, Haley, etc. shoot, they're always scrunched up with their shoulders touching their ears. And then on the competition end, everybody is so much looser and relaxed. Why don't the tactical guys loosen up? Bad habits, or is there another reasoning behind that method?

Had my first league night last night. It was a lot of fun. A few guys told me I did well for a newbie, and I did some nice shooting.
I messed up on one stage, and got 3 procedurals because I forgot the mandatory reload. It felt like I was on auto-pilot when I was shooting, and my pre stage planning seemed to go out the window.lol |

USPSA fans: check this out:
Close to D.C. this summer, they are holding the 16th World Police and Fire Games - June 26 thru July 5, 2015. What I found interesting is that the "Games" seems to have co-opted USPSA (as first copied by the NRA) as their "combat pistol competition:" Just look at these USPSA-style stages! http://nebula.wsimg.com/74c78bc76f2b6401925e00b67505f102?AccessKeyId=C318CB9DAE1A32A00566&disposition=0&alloworigin=1 Here is the link to the games: http://fairfax2015.com/tourism This is just more evidence of what we already know: -competition like USPSA has real-world value for anyone who might have to use a handgun defensively. No, I am not claiming it is a replacement for all instruction or training - but it certainly cannot be dismissed as just a "game" without usefulness for those who carry sidearms. |

First match since January was today. I did pretty well...shot a 53 and 70% on my two classifiers. The 53% would have been a lot higher if I didn't clip a no shoot.

That is why a RO should never assume that someone down range can hear him yell "Is the range clear?". I have irritated a few shooters because I walk down and check behind vision barriers to make sure that no one is still pasting or resetting targets. |

View Quote They should be thankful after seeing that video. I wonder if the shooter possibly had tunnel vision. It could be that the taper was blocked by one of the targets from shooters position, but this seems to be failure on many sides. RO failed to check if anyone was downrange shooter possibly missed the taper as he was moving down the range taper should have paid attention. |

1st in Limited today.
6th overall out of 55. The top 5 were GM or M's; I was the U in 6th lol Tough match overall. Very complicated. No blasting. |

The ones that get antsy about it are the ones that think that every match has a prize table. They usually throw a couple of mikes and toss in a no shoot per stage, because they think they need to go balls out. |

View Quote Anyone that's irritated by that is a moron (granted there are more and less efficient ways to do this so you shouldn't be slowing down the match progression). Also, "is the range clear?" is not a proper range command for an RO. That's because an RO should visually verify that the range is clear before starting a shooter. |

View Quote We are still shooting inside until April. Somehow I managed 1st in limited also and 11th overall in our match this weekend. We had only 31 shooters though. I wish I had a GoPro to make cool vids like you guys do. |

I suck. I am still cutting my teeth in the sport. I started in June of last year. The match was designed to be a mind fuck and it was. Sure; I could have done better but it's a work in progress. I am happy that I finished with the M and GM's at the match but not satisfied as I knew I could have done better. |

You're off to a pretty good start, I'd say.
Was the RO on the first stage named Chris by any chance? He sounded pretty familiar. I skipped a classifier match today. Next match on April 5th, with the Bluegrass match the next weekend. |

eta Looking at your results I've shot with several people on there. Not used to seeing Hyder on the bottom like that |

My question probably sounded critical/condescending. I apologize, because that's not how it was meant! I was wondering if there was a reason behind it; if you were calling your shots and making them up, or if you weren't confident in your sight picture or something. You must be doing something right when you win your division and finish amond Ms and GMs. Keep up the good work! |

Holy shit!!! The guy downrange was still taping targets like 20 rounds into the stage. Couldn't he hear that shit? I remember a guy that I was getting ready to run through a stage. I said" Make ready." and he just stood there, looking down range. I said it again...he just stood there. I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he heard me. He had a puzzled look on his face. He took his muffs off, only to have plugs in as well. Coupled with the fact that he was hard of hearing, he could not hear a word I was saying, despite standing next to him. Who knows what type of muffs the guy in the vid had, that coupled with other stages being shot, it's not out of the realm of reason that the guy down range could not hear the shots fired in his bay. |

I'll dabble with it. I already signed up for three major matches shooting Production, but I'll probably shoot Limited major in some local matches. I'll essentially be shooting the same setup with major PF ammo and a magwell, so not much of a change to go back and forth. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

In other news, Glock charged my credit card for my G35, so I also now have a magwell, ISMI recoil spring and rod, set of Warren Sevigny sights, and a TTI Grandmaster trigger kit on order. G35 for limited and G17 for production since I don't have a G34 yet. |
