Hi all,

As the last thread were both archived, I will make a single one for Central African Republic and Mali.

France has quietly been kicking ass and taking names in Africa for awhile now.

Thanks for the awesome pics.

WTF happened to their FAMAS forends?

Nice. Some nifty gear on those guys....although, the lack of gloves and eyepro in some of the pictures has to have a CSM somewhere clawing his eyes out (I got "talked to" about that after a couple hour rolling fight through a neighborhood in Iraq where we had a photographer with us..."Where were the gloves/eyepro??" Yeah...umm...shit fogs up)

Intrigued by the long gun with the oblong thing on the end. It doesn't look like a silencer or muzzle break.

ETA: It looks finned...is that a rifle grenade?

In the first pic, the fabric wrapped around the rifle.

What is the purpose of that? To keep Sun reflections down off the metal? Camouflage?

While it is definitely some kind of rifle grenade, I'm probably wrong on the grenade type after looking at it again.

OP,

Did some googling, that -is- a camera under the eotech.

For what purpose, I'm not sure.

Yup it's an APAV40, an anti-personnel RG.

Love the AMX-10RC.  The US Army should have just bought some of those 2 decades ago instead of dicking around with various mobile gun systems for years to finally plop one on a Stryker.

Meh. IMO it looks a little better. Only because the original couldn't get any uglier. Even the Brits' bullpups look better than a FAMAS.

It's impressively effective in that environment.  It would make a great all round camo - less green and more brown than the old Woodland.
