I posted the original thread almost two years ago, and I was introduced to some good stuff.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1390513_New_Rock_That_Sounds_Old___.html

Let's do it again. What new old stuff is out there?

They definitely hopped in the time machine to record this one.

Saw both these bands at the 9:30 club. Somewhere on the internet there's a picture of me with the guys from the Shrine drinking tallboys of PBR.

The Hellacopters fit the bill, too bad they broke up, but they have some really great albums:

Pretty Reckless is your standard , catchy-riff , simple NYC rock-n-roll band, who just happens to have a slutty lead singer with a rough but decent sounding voice with edgy rebellious lyrics  . . . . and who loves to flash her body and rub on the womenz .
Solid formula for $ucce$$ here in 'Murica
It's all I hear on the radio these days . I'd post videos but they'd axe my account.... so fast

Didnt read the other thread yet, but it was probably already mentioned; I think the lead singer of Avenged Sevenfold sounds like a 90s singer.

I like them.

I wonder if anyone in 1974 was part of a discussion group (would have been held at a library or a Moose lodge I imagine) where everyone pined for new groups who sounded like Chubby Checker.

I guess we'll know the Twenty-Teens as that decade when everyone who wasn't even a zygote in 1974 did their best rendition of it, because they didn't know what to invent.

Brian Setzer was doing it in the 80's, and I'm sure someone was doing Cab Calloway in the 60's...just an interesting thing that entire derivative genres exist now and are considered mainstream or even a "modern trend", as it were.

I mean, in the 90's we knew what the 80's sounded like - it was distinct and palpable. What did the 2000's sound like? Well, like now. And, for that matter, like the next 20 years will sound like - mashups and derivative sounds of things we've been hearing for a long time.

I think we've just about run out of room on the giant's shoulders, if you think about how many bands and the limits of rock...it's all pretty much been done at this point, sonically....unless it's fucked up and unlistenable.

Vibe hell, the verse is lifted directly from "King Nothing" by Metallica.  I'm surprised Lars hasn't sued them.

Probably takes you back to those Friday nights sitting around the table in mom's basement, throwing a 20 sided dice with your friends.

But hell, even if it's campy, overdone, and sometimes a little weird, I still love Power Metal.

CLUTCH? band from the 90s? seems very different..
I qualified my post with the statement that I only listen to it when drunk.. which is when I bought it and then this thread reminding me that I bought it LOL

I ended up putting three videos because each one was sort of boring and Id go to the next haha
The Uncle Acid is far better stuff, but (in general, not specifically) all of this stuff made in 2010 on that sounds like its from the 70s is like food that is artficially flavored or something, the appearance, the first few bites yummmy but then.... there just something to it that is suspect that I cannot put my finger on and it prevent me from liking it. like its some odd fad that also reflects just how bad the present day fucking sucks.
A lot of the doom bands never stopped playing certain riffs, but it sort of went on to be a thing of its own.
