http://jungletraining.com/forums/showthread.php?28458-USMC-labeled-ESEE-kockoffs/page2 Thread on Esee forum. Basically, yes the USMC has licensed it's name to a piece of shit chinese knife manufacturer (or importer) who is selling knock offs of Esee knives made out of cheaper steel with Marine Corp name and logo. Jeff Randall admits he has not patent on a knife shape and Marines admit it is licensed by them "hey if you sue Chinese Dicksucking Knife Company and win, let us know, otherwise fuck off" They also sell a Becker knock off, a Zero Tolerance knock off, K Bar knock off, maybe some Cold Steel? knock offs? Practically speaking some of the the knife designs may not be practically patentable, I don't know, and probably lot of knife companies don't have the cash to wage a patent fight, I am sure Esee doesn't. But the Marines are putting their names on what anyone with a 70 IQ can tell are rip offs of American knife designs. This is a superbly fucked up scummy enterprise for the American military to be involved in. There are e mails from the Marine licensing division in the Esee thread, there is no question that these are legally licensed, that Marine licensing has been informed that they are obvious knock offs, and that Marine licensing does not care until someone brings a long and expensive lawsuit against the Chinese knockoff cocksuckers the Marine licensing is in bed with. |

I think the patent on fixed blade knives expired about 150,000 years ago
I suspect the same is true with the US Army knives that CDNN sells...
That's bullshit, but people who buy Chicom USMC marked knives from Sportsman's Guide would never buck up for a real ESEE anyhow.
Probably no damage or sales lost. Junkers gonna junk.
The people that buy the knock-offs don't know any better and likely don't care ... and might not ever notice.
Sportsmens Guide knives .... Enjoying the US made Kershaw* on my desk now ... good product and a great price actually. There's no reason to buy Chinese Dicksuck knives with quality knives being made here. (*not all Kershaw blades are US made) |
PS ... If I buy another knife tonight IT"S YOUR FAULT!
I have a beautiful US made Benchmade Mchenry and Williams knife in my Amazon basket now .... |

Who wants a knife with some emblem on it anyway.
I have several BENCHMADE knives that are military issue. They were confiscated from service members going through airport security at a civilian airport. They flew back from overseas on military contract flights with no problem. When they went through TSA they had to surrender the knives. Oh and they are automatic knives at that! Nice addition to my Military Issued Edged Weapons collection! . |

I think the patent on fixed blade knives expired about 150,000 years ago View Quote There is such a thing called a Design Patent... and you can get it for the ornamental design of a product that already exists. So it's entirely possible to have a patent for a specific fixed blade knife that's still in effect today. |

You guys do realize the TSA has auctions for piles of seized knives. They don't categorize them either. Auction is open to the public and says " 31 whatever pounds of seized folding knives". Totally legit way to purchase them. The issued knives aren't owned by the soldiers to begin with. I have bid on an auction before. |
