tons of canned goods that taste OK without heating, mostly Spaghetti-os, canned chicken and fruit.
Other than that, eggs. the yard birds make sure we never run out. From the store (and not for the larder/hurricane kit), the fixings for carne asada tacos. |

Black peppercorn, for the pepper grinders.

Cheese and butter.
No matter how little food you have, put either of those two on just about anything and you can have a fairly satisfying meal. i.e.; tortilla and cheese, noodles and butter, bread and butter, bread and cheese, etc... |

For the milk people. Organic or normal? 2% or whole? Don't say skim, because I didn't ask what kind of homogenized colored water you drink.

Raised in the sticks, only going to the grocery store once a month we would stock up and freeze all that we could. I don't think very many people do that very much anymore. I always make sure we have about 8-10 pounds in the garage freezer at any one time. Then on shopping day at the first of the month, I buy about 8-10 more pounds and rotate the old stuff into the refrigerator. There are 6 of us in my house, BTW, and we go through that much butter every month. Margarine is the Devil's Snot. |
