For me, it's cheese.

Shredded, sliced, in a block.  I make it rain dairy.

What about you?

Canned tuna. I buy a dozen new cans every time I move, and then never eat any of it.

I'm the same. Raised in the sticks, only going to the grocery store once a month we would stock up and freeze all that we could.

I don't think very many people do that very much anymore.

Other than that, eggs. the yard birds make sure we never run out.

From the store (and not for the larder/hurricane kit), the fixings for carne asada tacos.

Cheese and butter.

No matter how little food you have, put either of those two on just about anything and you can have a fairly satisfying meal.
i.e.; tortilla and cheese, noodles and butter, bread and butter, bread and cheese, etc...

For the milk people. Organic or normal? 2% or whole? Don't say skim, because I didn't ask what kind of homogenized colored water you drink.

I always make sure we have about 8-10 pounds in the garage freezer at any one time.  Then on shopping day at the first of the month, I buy about 8-10 more pounds and rotate the old stuff into the refrigerator.

There are 6 of us in my house, BTW, and we go through that much butter every month.  Margarine is the Devil's Snot.

I think, for the most part, that everyone at least has a tap in their home. It may not be the tastiest Fiji water, but it works.
