2002 Electra Glide Ultra, upgrade the chain tensioners keep it serviced and start thinking about mileage at about 150 K.

Fatboy or springer if you plan on cruising local and barhopping.
A roadking or streetglide if you plan on longer trips, unfortunately you won't probably find a streetglide in that price range, they're the hot thing now. The dressers have a much better riding suspension if you plan on real mileage. Look into what year they started the 6 speed, the extra gear is much appreciated on the highway. |

I have a 95' dyna low rider, love it! My grandfather gave it to me because he never rode it, my dad has a heritage softtail which rides great but is a bit heavy for me to walk. If you want to ride often get at least a dyna or fatboy series for fuel capacity. My low rider is 1340cc and has plenty of power, the night train is one bad ass bike though.

I have an 07 Dyna and my sportbike soaks up bumps better. But on fairly smooth roads it's pure rolling thunder. Rides good too.

A 1965 stroked Pan Head motor with title and a new full polish Baker 6 in a 4 transmission. There goes 10k. It's got a title so it's a motorcycle. Probably need some more cash for parts if you expect to ride it anywhere.

Im going to look at this tomorrow. I know the person selling it and he bought it new. He is now close to 65 years old and done riding but he keeps stuff in very good shape.

I've done the crotch rocket thing. Tired of that. I got an Iron 883 and put 10,000 miles on it the first year. Love it, and I ride the piss out of it.
Since you said no sportsters, a late 2000's wide glide or night train, like you said.. Personally I like the dyna's better than the soft tails, but the night train is sweet. You can find low mileage garage queens for less than 10k all over the place. The night trains are more in demand so you'll pay more for them than a comparable dyna. For 10K you can find them with less than 10,000 miles easy. These bikes will go 100,000 miles if properly maintained, but if I was buying used there's no point in buying a higher mileage bike (think 20k or more) when there's so many out there with low miles. People buy them as garage trophies, put a thousand miles on them, and park them. Or get scared and the wife makes them sell it. Craigslist is full of them. |

But are you sure you want a cruiser? It sounds like you may have not ridden one before. Don't forget about all of the other options out there - especially standards. There aren't as many as there once were, but some great ones are still available. I say this because of a personal experience - my dad decided one day he wanted a cruiser. Myself and one of my friends both told him we though he didn't really want one (based on knowing his riding habits and such), but he bought one anyway. And he had it for about... oh, three months or so before he decided it wasn't what he wanted at all. Ended up getting more of what he really wanted not too long after - a Triumph Bonneville (one of the Hinckley ones, not an original). Just pointing out that it's a different riding style entirely from what it sounds like you have experienced, so I would really think about it before dropping $10k. If that is what you want, cool - just pointing out that I've seen some people think they want a cruiser, only to get one and then decide they didn't really want a cruiser after all. Other people genuinely like cruisers, and that's perfectly fine too.
