Hulu seems pretty decent. My buddy has it and loves it better then Netflix

I like hulu, eapecially since they offer a lot for free. But even paying for hulu and netflix will be cheaper than cable.

My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner OP... all that money that you're NOT pissing away on cable tv will buy a lot of ammo |

Not trying to get too far off topic or hijack the thread but what are you all doing for live sports (specifically NFL football - wife wants to go back to cable if she can't watch her 49ers every week)

Get Netflix and Amazon Prime. View Quote This and then back it up with a pay per stream service like iTunes or Xbox video to fill in the gaps. I get Netflix, Prime and Xbox Video on my TV via Xbox console. The real beauty is that none of those services are location dependent so I can watch them at my cabin for no extra cost. |
le sigh.... this is discussed at least once every week on GD.
Here is the summary: 1 - Get Roku, Apple TV, Smart TV, dildo 2 - Subscriber to Netflix and Amazon prime streaming 3 - get a Mohu Leaf antenna for OTA TV 4 - profit |
If you have a networked desktop, get tne playon software and some plugins, you'll be amazed.

Antenna and digital converter box gets a lot of the sports the main networks carry. Some are available on a separate stream. Sometimes you are SOL if live sports coverage is a priority... you can always go to a sports bar, I guess.

View Quote Yeah we might end up watching Sports at a bar...that is the only thing we would miss is the live sports. We have Roku (with amazon and netflix)...just wondering if someone knew of a way to stream live sports |

I always like this threads. Got rid of my cable. Now what other service can I pay for, to watch something. http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=67986 View Quote $8 a month is a lot better than $80. |

Roku3. I briefly considered cable, but since it would be almost $100 a month WITH discounts () and I already have Netflix/Prime, it was an easy decision. Everything I need.
Even pr0nz HTPC soon, so I can stream everything from it. |
I run an HDMI cable tween my laptop and my TV , and I use the wireless mouse as a remote .
I dumped Netflix for Amazon Prime and watch a lot of stuff on YouTube , Hulu , all kinds of anime, documentary , sports and racing stuff , classic movies , pod-casts , live streams , etc,etc.....I dont miss cable a bit. |

Next month I will be paying nothing. $8 for Hulu, $9 for Netflix, and a year membership for Amazon prime with come in under $26 a month. Tell me how that is not a cost savings. |

After this season of SOA is over I think I'm ditching cable too.

The last streaming device you'll ever need to buy.

I thought Netflix was great for the first month or so, but once you are caught up on 80s movies and maybe Jericho, the content (or lack of content) sucks.
If you don't have OTA signal to watch TV, then HULU is your best bet to watch a lot of network TV.
Netflix and Amazon Prime have movies and series, but most of it is older stuff.
Netflix and amazon. Hulu still has a ton of commercials so I dropped it.

when will they make a device like a roku/appleTV/amazonSTB/etc that has an ATSC tuner built into it?
