It's occurred to me that most of my 'murican friends have no idea about this most beloved, crack-infused creation of our British cousins to the east.
It really is crack, BTW. |

Grew up with it! Hamburger steak for breakfast, just ain't the same without some HP
|
|
I ordered a bottle from Amazon based on the earlier thread and I haven't gotten it yet.
Looking forward to giving it a try. |

Aren't the Brit's the same guys that love Spotted Dick?
I'll pass... |
|
Funny, up here the Arabs love it. I first encountered HP at an Iraqi restaurant. .
|
|
|
Never heard of it.
Is it pretty stable, or do you need to reboot it regularly? |

Grew up on it
Didn't try the shitty wannabe that is A-1 till I was older. I like being able to get it in the grocery store around here but I rarely buy it anymore |
|
What is that stuff. I see several flavors. Which is the most crack infused.
I am not willing to buy the whole line. The Chile flavors attract my taste buds the most. |

hp sauce is the BEST. It makes british food palatable and american food heavenly
|
|
HP is good stuff.
I also got to like Fountain sauce when I was in Australia. Wish it was available here |

Picked up a bottle today because of this thread... as I needed some Hoisin Sauce anyway.
Not sure about the spotted dick, although I have seen the cans on the selves before. Might be a trend, to eat as the Subnet does... as long as we don't start to look like him. |

Had it when I was married (ex is a Brit) and I remember it being the FoShizznit.
Going food shopping later and I'll pick some up if they have it. Thanks, OP! ETA: I went shopping last night and my local supermarket didn't have it (and no one that worked at the store knew what it was). I guess I'll have to try the International Market or a British shop when I have more time. |
|
I have some in the refrigerator right now. There's an authentic English pastie shop a couple of miles from here, and they sell all sorts of English food, candy and condiments in addition to their amazing pasties and sausage rolls.

My wife loved it while we were stationed in England....I hated it. She still buys it at a local grocery store that has a good international section.

It's good on fried foods and pasties. You can find it at Meijer's stores in Kentucky.

WTF is HP sauce? Hollow point sauce?!?! http://www.abcmoney.co.uk/aimage/2486_hp_sauce.jpg Damn I only had the original. Didn't know of the others. Don't bother with the others they are ok but there are better options. As far as 'brown sauces go" hp is near the top but I prefer daddies. Tastes like it has more chemicals and flavourings in. In fact as far as I'm concerned the cheaper the brown or tomato sauce is the better. Like from a really cheap burger van that buys gallon tubs of it for a quid. |

I first experienced this tasty stuff in Heathrow Airport--wow!
Love Brit bacon, too! More meat & less fat-- but they have this quirk of only browning one side. Who said Brit-food is poor? Bollocks, I tell you, Bollocks! BTW, if anyone ever has a chance to set at Gordon Ramsey's Savoy Grill--DO IT! One of the finest meals my wife & I ever experienced! Bloody AWESOME, mate! |
|
Whats the taste like on this stuff? I loathe A1 and prefer Heinz 57. I think I've seen it at HEB so I may pick up a bottle.

Like all canned food, I'm sure it does fresh spotted dick a disservice. It was alright. I'd eat it again if served, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it. I'll definitely try some fresh one day. |

Struck out at the local grocery store. May have to try a specialty market of sorts.
Picked up a bottle of Marie Sharps Habinero hot sauce from Belize though... So it wasn't a total loss. |

Love original HP and HP Fruity. I have a bottle of each on hand. Haven't tried the others.

Every time I go visit my family, I bring ridiculous quantities of back bacon, proper sausages, branston pickle, pickled onions, and HP sauce home. I take minimal clothing, to leave more room for food coming back. :)

When my squadron was deployed to Kenya in the 90's, we regularly ate the hotel out of HP sauce and Colman's mustard, because it was the only way to make their food palatable... Good stuff the both of them...
