Do you tell people that you are 6ft tall?
Seeing hundreds of people per month, most guys overstate their height and understate their weight.
By a fair amount.
It's like my mom said... "I am not over weight, I am under tall!"
AKA "5 foot nothing tall" |
I'm five foot nine ......on a good day.
Can't quite make it stretch that far. |
I'm under 6 ft with and without shoes, so I've just accepted the fact that I will never get the change tall people hide on top of soda machines for each other.

Do you tell people that you are 6ft tall? View Quote Who are these people that you tell your height to? I can't remember ever doing it. In what scenario would this be required? Tall or short people, I could see where some asshole might say "How tall are you, anyway" When you are normal-average it just doesn't enter the conversation. |

I can understand how you mortals would have to face this problem of lying about height. At an honest 6'6" I just tell the truth. Of course on ARFCOM I'm only average.

I used to be 6 foot even.
Now 5 foot 10 and change. Guess I am shrinking or something. |

I tell people I'm 6' 1" in the morning and just 6' in the evening.
It's almost accurate too. |

View Quote After reading the thread you are referencing, I started leaving my change on top of the vending machine at work. It took several months and built up to several dollars before a fellow tall guy spotted it and helped himself. Or maybe the janitors finally dusted the top of the coke machine... |

Context.
If you ask me my height, I'll say 5'11" If you challenge me to a 3-point shooting contest, well, you're challenging a 6-foot tall white boy, and you're gonna lose. |
No. I dont tell folks I'm 6 one or 6 two based on the shoes I'm wearing. I'm 6 even.
According to the military Im 65 1/4 inches (5' 5 1/4" in the real world) |

No one is 6' tall. It is a myth. You are either over or a midget.

I've always said I'm 5'-10" so I ran right in, used a square, removed my shoes, and measured myself. Exactly 5'-10 1/8" so I've not been lying. IIRC the article said something like 98% of people add an inch to their height, so I missed the glorious 1% by this much ><. I don't bother lying about my weight either--192# currently. |

It's just easier to say I'm 6 foot instead of 5 foot 11 1/2 inches.

I've been embarrassed several times by guys who state their height and want to know how tall I am. It's kind of rough when I say I'm an honest 6'6" after the guy says he's 6'7" or 6'8" although clearly a bit shorter than me. I look at my height the way I look at my dog. It's bigger than darn near anything else you'll see in a given day so why inflate it?

Of course not, just like I don't say how much I weigh with my clothes on.

I'm 6'1" to 7'2" depending on what convenience store I walk into. Sorry I can't help.
Doctor says I'm 6'7". |

Most people seem to e-stat their height online.
I was at a church function and nobody was taller than me and I'm 5'10. It's a Korean Church, but still. |

I'm 5'11" without boots. That's what I say. I weigh 187 (true story), and I tell people I weigh 187.
