Irish bars with names like Blarney Stone, He's Not Here, The Runaway Bar, O'Reillys and the White Horse Tavern. Always the same story Irishman with a few too many. Around maybe 2:30 AM any night of the week two of New York's Finest walk in real slow and deliberate. The guy is always loud and the conversation is always the same. "What took you fucks so long to show up?""They are real tough guys with their badges and guns" or "Fuck You, flatfoot" "Take off your badge and your gun tough guy, I'll wipe the floor with you". The tirades sometimes lasted about 2 minutes before the fight began. Ka Ping! Ka Pow! Bada Bing! Bada Boom!! Even spectators had to dodge what seemed like WrestleMania. Even with the guy pummeled with saps, the heavy black gloves and the hickory sometimes by more than 2 cops, he took the beating. Into the squad car. For the next week the guy was subdued with bandages on his head fat lips and black eyes even making jokes about the cops weren't that tough

So who did you prefer, Extorris?

I'd venture the guess that Irish hold their liquor better and are more accustomed to brawls.

I've only ever seen one person get beaten by the police.  Some white kid yelled, "#### the police!" in the face of two officers at a Mardi Gras event I was at.

Well, I did see an off duty officer push an old man down.  But he got in trouble for it.

I've known since I was 8 not to fuck with the police. If you do and get your ass beat, then it's your fault. Why is this so hard to understand. Mike

You can't simplify it. Alcohol, drugs, mental illness, Italian did not like an Irish cop or vice versa, but with my experience the beatings were almost always alcohol and a little drug related. You can see a guy throughout the night getting louder and louder and sometimes the guys in the bar would kick his ass, but mostly it was the cops

I joined the reserves and ended up there, I hated it. It was non stop drinking the whole weekend, we ate at the Marina Del Rey, you should have seen the bar there. Everyone was either a cop, fireman or sanitation worker. NYC gave 30 days paid a year for serving in the reserves. I would have stayed in the reserves there eventually I would have worn the Bronx Party Hat

I got so shitfaced there buddies would have to take me home

Same thing in redneck bars and houses and anywhere else. The smarter ones
learned not to be too stupid. When you tell one to go here, stay there, be quiet

and the ones that have been stick trained do it as they don't want to go through

that again. It seemed like the worse morons were college kids. They thought

they were exempt or something and you always had to put your hands on one

and take them in.
