After last night’s looting in nearby Ferguson, Missouri, the St. Louis Cabela’s store (which is located about five miles west of Ferguson in nearby Hazelwood) has taken precautions to protect its firearms inventory. The store is located in a large shopping center called the St. Louis Outlet Mall. Dirk reports that every entrance to the mall has at least one squad car on prominent display and there are policemen posted both at Cabela’s front door and inside the store . . . There are only long guns on display, safely behind the counter. All handguns have been removed from the glass display cases to protect against flash mob-style smash-and-grab attempts. Specific firearms customers want to see are brought out one at a time from storage off the sales floor. |

Just FYI:
The charges listed earlier in this thread are against a Michael R Brown with a DOB 9/26/1997 (16 years old). The deceased was reportedly 18. So, there's nothing documented and publicly available to suggest that the deceased had prior offenses or run-ins with the law. A search for Michael Brown without age yields 36 results (the 16 year old doesn't show up, btw), none of them appear to be 18. |

Livingston said that it'd been a good summer so far for Brown. He'd graduated and seemingly overnight, went from a shy kid, kind of a loner who spent a lot of time playing Playstation 3, to being obsessed with becoming a famous rapper. He said after Brown started getting positive feedback from songs he posted on social media -- ones he recorded in a studio set up in his grandmother's basement -- he started coming out of his shell. Brown worked tirelessly to put out more and more music. He chose the performing name "Big Mike." "That's what I liked about him. I'm 21 but he was so wise and smart, I gravitated to him," said Livingston. "If he say he going to do something, he put his mind to it." Even though he seemed to be going through a transformation, the family agreed that in general Brown was shy. View Quote |

Martin Armstrong on the riot: While this is being painted as a race issue, there is yet another issue that is not being addressed – that is the militarization of the civil police forces around the country.
PHOTO: boston_police Ever since 911, there has been a trend moving toward much harsher local police. Here is a photo of how the Boston Police have militarized to the point it looks like war against the people. Even small towns are geared up for war. The small town of Medford, Oregon with a population of 76,462 has spent millions of dollars to militarize their police. They have their own Swat Teams, yet no incident in history of some major shooting of such a nature to warrant a Swat Team. The entire reason where there was the Second Amendment was to eliminate this very threat of standing armies. We are seeing the abuse of force at every level. Medford Police bought a new vehicle that some say could survive a so-called the apocalypse. They used their Swat Team to go after a mere carjacker. Medford, New Jersey with a population of just 23,033 also has a Swat Team. They rushed in and held two white kids on the ground at gun-point for shooting potatoes into a lake setting hair spray as the propellant. PHOTO: Norman Rockwell painting cop and kid at lunch counter The whole thing about standing armies has been their historical use out of boredom. It is a shame to pay for something and then not use it. Police use to be friendly as shown in Normal Rockwell’s classic painting. Sure there are a few good souls still left. But the attitudes have shifted to being just mean and nasty as they look at the civilian population as evil. PHOTO: PepperSpray-US This is a problem that is brewing and is extremely dangerous to say the least. Examples of police abuse are all over the internet. There has been a loss of respect for the people and there seems to be no way to reverse this process. PHOTO: PepperSpray-NYC They sprayed protesters in the eyes during Occupy Wall Street movements everywhere. The conduct has been outrageous. This killing of this black teen is not simply racism. The problems are much deeper. Claiming this is just racism deflects the entire issue and makes it simply black-v-white. This is something far more serious for it is impacting our entire society. PHOTO: Nevada-Protest The protests over land was yet another example. The police showed up with weapons and told the people they would shoot to kill. The police are being transformed from protecting the public into protecting government from the public. Most do not even see what transformation they have gone through. Martin Armstrong is an idiot. I'm not seeing a second amendment out there stopping rioters or enforcing the law. If anything, the armed rioters are the 2nd amendment. Just a bunch of overworked cops in a nasty situation is all I see. The second amendment was intended to have the body of the population be the militia and enforce laws; we tried a short cut and created a police force to do that. The police almost replaced the armed citizens during the past century. Now the police are being turned into a standing army. Transform the police back into what they were, or they will be eliminated as a concept. No, Martin Armstrong isn't the idiot. Where's the citizenry right now? Where's this militia? You and what militia? So far the only concept being eleminated is this romanticized "militia" argument. It's deader than robin Williams. |

I agree 100% with the statement above. What I have an issue with is as some have suggested that looters be shot on sight. As in walking thru a particular hood with a TV = ventilated. Active looting = cops roll up and start lighting them up. You are always within your right to protect yourself and others. But give a department the ok to kill someone over what amounts to a property crime is absurd. I think the important line of separation is the definition of "on sight". Is "on sight" the aforementioned walking down the street with a TV? What if it's a guy trying to evacuate his valuables before they're taken? Or is "on sight" really "he's trying to kick in my front window"? That's different... Nope thinking that way obviously makes you a stupid obama loving, basement dwelling moron. That's disingenuous pot stirring drivel coming from an individual who has already stated that shooting active looters under any circumstances is murder. |

Tactical breathing? I already took several trainings that address that, thanx. I believe that is known as Terrorism... No? It probably fits most definitions. But I'm not too keen on the idea of charging American citizens with 'terrorism' just because it fits the definition under some post 9/11 law. It just doesn't seem very....American. Any .gov agency that salivates at the idea of getting to use post 9/11 legislation to charge American citizens with 'terrorism' is probably a more dangerous enemy than any low IQ looter. |

Police respond to St. Louis Galleria following 'multiple incidents'
RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- Officers with the Richmond Heights Police Department responded to the St. Louis Galleria Monday evening. The Galleria has closed.
It's unclear why they're responding, other than a report of "multiple incidents" inside the mall. Brentwood Police also responded. Several stores were evacuated shortly after 6:00. Nordstrom and Macy's have closed their gates and confirm a lockdown. Sources tell News 4 multiple groups of people were in the mall fighting. Galleria security called police and the mall began evacuating customers. Richmond Heights officials say that while there is a large police presence at the scene, no ambulances have responded. News 4 has crews on the way to the scene and will provide more information as it becomes available.
