yeah he is definitely one of the odder characters in the marvel universe, his part in X-men Origins did not do him justice. He needs his own film

Wayne's World meets Wolverine, might stand a chance.

Kick Ass had the voice over. Breaking the 4th wall is an intersting way to handle inner monologue for a solo character. DP's not exactly the sort to have a sidekick along for exposition.
It could be different enough to appear fresh in a super hero heavy mix.

The Office did well, I know they were spoofing reality TV, but having the characters sit and talk about themselves and situations worked for that show.

Character and Comic Book, yes, film, remains to be seen, but the footage is a good indicator that they're heading in the right direction.
As someone mentioned the character has been used, but in complete disregard to the comic and character.
