There is a guy in TXHTF who has a hard on that cops aren't civilians.
I do kind of find it interesting that military guys fall under two different forms of justice systems. But what do I know. I'm just a  or a

In this country they are.
In some countries they have a branch of the military that acts as a police force. In France, for instance, there was a famous unit of heavy cavalry that after the French Revolution stepped in and acted as a police force. Later, they were made both formally part of the army but given police duties. The French term for this is Gendarmerie. Many other counties (especially ex French colonies) have adopted the same form and name. BUT...in the USA, they are civilians. Edit to ad: Easy way to tell...follow the chain of command all the way up. If the top person is elected, or is appointed (or serves at the pleasure of) an elected official OTHER THAN the president of the country, that person is civilian. If the chain of command leads to a department of the (military branch) or ministry of defense, then it is non-civilian. |

Per GD, yes. Reality? Most cops are civilians, but many cops are not (unless you consder military reserve officers and NCO's to be "civilians") |
