A trainable young person and a teachable moment have been squandered by the uproar.
Social media IS the problem here but not on the girl's side of the camera. It's all the assholes in the world wanting to be Bill Murray so they can get THEIR 15 minutes. Facebook is evil. Not for what it exposes you to, but for what it entices out of the unsuspecting. |

View Quote Human nature was just the same as it is now as it was back in 2003 when there was no Facebook. Facebook didn't invent being an asshole. I can speak from personal experience, I was an asshole for decades before then. |

if they don't want smiling tourists taking pictures, then institute a no picture rule and post guards to enforce it.
most people will smile when snapping a picture. I'm quite sure if she had not been smiling, someone would bitch about her looking bored at a major historical site. people need to chill the fuck out |

Ehhh. I got more things to be pissed or worried about. She is not one of them

She looks like an ignorant cunt, fucking "Princess Breana" whatever. Read up on some history and take a nap in those ovens you twat! And before all the MYOB haters, she looks dumb enough to vote for Obama, so FO and FBHO. You got all that from an average looking girl smiling in a picture? Color me impressed. |

Got your feelings hurt from a photo? Good now go fuck yourself.

Outrage over a teenage girl smiling in a picture.
Further proof that a few crackpots are still capable of leading retards into a "burn the witch!" frenzy. In 2014. There's an irony in there. Somewhere. |

I'm pretty sure that if there are ghosts at Auschwitz, they would be happy to see a young girl smile.

My instant response would doubtless violate the CoC.
I have a very dark sense of humor. |

Because nothing else is going on in this world.
BTW Bieber got the cops called on him again lastnight, playing music to loud. |

It’s the same thing you run into at Arlington and the tomb of the unknown..... Some kids and even adults just don’t grasp the gravity of it.
It's hard to beat them up for lack of respect when they just dont get "it". Doesn’t make it right, but it is what it is. |

Quoted: It may have been in bad taste, but who cares? View Quote She is a teenager, I wouldn't do it but I don't see any malice or ill intent in the picture or in her own quotes. It'd be one thing if she were doing the gangster thing middle finger to the camera and all but fucks sake she's taking a picture of herself in a profound place she'll probably never get to visit again.

was at Dachau...quite the place. Very sad.
wandered over to the "ovens" there were somne tourists standing in front of the ovens and smiling for the camera...thought it was odd, but whatever floats their boat... |

Bad judgement, poor taste, pretty much like everything most teenagers do.
It's as if people are surprised a teenager made poor decision or something... |
|
no harm no foul.....not really considerate by any means. I wouldn't want my daughter taking selfies at a place like that....obviously she has no self awareness. Typical teenager.

There should be public beatings when the word Selfies is used. I'm sick of hearing it.

Political correctness run completely amok. Social media running it's typical sordid course.
The irony here is that many of the same people who get butt-hurt about this photo are likely ready to throw the current jewish nation, Israel, under the bus for what is happening now, and not even realize their hypocrisy. |

View Quote So it is wrong to take a picture at Arlington when someone is smiling? Shit! My son's Boy Scout Troop visited many years ago and took a group picture and some of the boys have smiles on their faces. Then there are the pictures my son took in Iraq where a few of the Cav Scouts had smiles on their faces. I can assure you they were involved in serious business before and after the pictures were taken. Were they showing a "lack of respect"? I don't think so. Then there are pictures taken at Dal To in November of 1967 that I have. The two soldiers were holding a M-16A1 and had a grin on their faces because the guy taking the picture was joking about something. Go to Google and look at the casualties at Dak To if you want to know how serious that was. I guarantee you that was no "lack of respect" for anything when that picture was taken. |

The fact that she's taking a selfie there makes me smile. Looks like Victory from here.

Many horrible things happened there. A pretty young girl smiling in a photograph is not one of them.

Some people just have nothing better to do than be outraged and offended all the time.
