More power to you OP, hope it's worth it to ya? |

Living so close to Santa, why wait for Christmas and just go up and visit some evening?
I was going to say "shut your piehole!" but after seeing where you are, I'm going to cut you a LOT of slack! |
|
|
|
Why are you there?
And what do you do? Seems like the only thing to do there for fun is drive around and randomly name lakes. |

Looked it up on google earth....wow. |

The only reason they called it "Point Lonely" is because "Point Fuck This Fucking Shit" was considered both too vulgar and too honest for use.
Other runners up were: Balls Froze To Leg Point Whatsthe Point Point In Any Direction And It's Warmer Than Here |

You mean parts of the DEW Line still exist?
I had a friend who was stationed at one during the '60s. He said he'd been up there so long that reindeer asses started looking pretty good. |

I set up and run a 40 man FOB camp for the guys tearing down the old Dew Line radar station. AK_Mike was probably the northern most more than anyone. He worked on DEW line sites for 20 years. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g155/zac_squatch/DA91E1E4-49BC-471B-A67E-50F2D47B1AF9-1465-0000012B09FB191D_zpsdcfa6b5f.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g155/zac_squatch/6DC4BD08-D85E-43FA-A2CE-4FB921F5D74C-1465-0000012B02BB26D2_zps6f3efe0b.jpg View Quote When I was in the fifth grade, they showed us a documentary movie about the (recent) construction of the DEW Line. I remember the pics of the crashed cargo planes, the radar domes and the snow. Be safe up there. |

My mother in law used to live in Barrow. No idea why anyone would want to live in a place like that.
