View Quote Wow Government intrusion. How many 1957 Chevy's will be confiscated because they don't meet clean air act standards next? Of course the EPA can just garnish your wages if you own such a vehicle. |

Only in GD would they want any vehicles to get in illegally to stay, but send the people packing.

Look for all vehicles being transferred to have to meet current standards.
I can't really post my thoughts on this because I have not allowed them to fully form. The word treason is floating around in my brain along with the concept that a federal government has very few jobs to do and right now protecting the borders is not being done but emissions stuff is getting done. |

Quoted: Apparently a North Carolina dealer blew the import process. View Quote When I purchased my vehicle I went to NC from Florida to look at and drive it. I compared the VIN on the bill of sale to the frame VIN and the VIN plate near the master cylinder. I in no way thought I was gambling in purchasing a vehicle that was licensed in NC. and had been in the states for a year prior to me purchasing it. The state police detective showed me where the engine block VIN had been filed and re-stamped. View Quote |

Grey Market Defender, or Post 1997 Defenders imported with older vins to pass the 25 year import rule. Defenders could not be imported after 1997 because LR would not put dual air bags in the vehicle.

View Quote Land Rovers don't breed, don't require subsidized food, clothing and shelter and tend not to carry communicable diseases. In the extreme, they also don't blow shit up on their own, murder or rape So yeah, I'm a lot less concerned about some $70k 4x4 than a human free for all crossing the border. |

Wow, surprised this is the first I've heard if this. The land rover import ban should go down in the books as one of the most bullshit in history.

It appears they are all 110's from an importer in Willmington N.C. sounds like it's related to the importation paperwork and /or the vehicles being EPA approved.

Interdasting. In the late 60's I worked for an LR fanboy in Troy, NY who had a plate cast that would let you couple a small Ford engine to an LR tranny. They sold like hot cakes to all the LR buffs. Apparently everything on the LR's worked flawlessly except for the shitty British engine. I think this was all before the emission control, air bag shit being rammed down our throats. Should I hide my dag?

Quoted: Only in GD would they want any vehicles to get in illegally to stay, but send the people packing. View Quote A. The importer is to blame, not the owners B. The vehicles did not bring with them disease, orphaned children, etc. C. It's the government's fault for not catching the error sooner, as in when the vehicles entered our shores or when they were first registered D. There is no due process ETA: E. No one's rights have been violated by the vehicles being in the US |

I hope a few people have changed their minds on what politicians deserve their vote after this mess.
The one's with the newer diesels 200/300TDI in them are fooked if under 21 years old no matter what the age of the actual vehicle. [if a true Defender then only a NAS is legal] |
