Article 13 of the Hamas Covenant - There is no negotiated settlement possible. Jihad is the only answer.
Why would you even think of opening their borders. All they will do is import weapons to keep waging jihad.

Seems to be Israel didn't have much to lose by accepting this cease fire. Most likely Netanyahu didn't have a choice. I'd bet serious money zero didn't give him a choice.
From Israel's standpoint they have done as much damage to the tunnels as they could for the ones they found. So if they sit back they can wait for Hamas to break it and if they don't they can call it a day. If that happens no doubt Hamas will start it up again soon and we'll be right back here. I'd guess that Israel won't sign on to anything that would allow Hamas to rearm. And Hamas won't sign on to anything that doesn't allow them to rearm. And the weird thing about all this is Hamas's main problem was with Egypt that rightly considers Hamas a part of the Muslim Brotherhood and shut down the border between Egypt and Gaza just to fuck with Hamas and take their smuggling scam that they made a lot of money on. If Hamas gets a big payday they just might stay quiet and try to find a way to smuggle in more rockets. |
