Cancer returns for Jack Hoffman Jack Hoffman, the 8-year-old ESPY winner and famous Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, again faces surgery or chemotherapy for a growing brain tumor. Hoffman's father, Andy Hoffman, posted on the Caring Bridge website on Wednesday that Jack's doctors in Boston informed the family that his tumor, previously in remission, had grown since April. "Today, we were humbly reminded that when your child has an inoperable brain tumor, that anything can happen at any point in time," Andy Hoffman wrote. "Despite Jack's tumor being declared in remission last October, today we learned that is no longer the case." Former Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead, now a second-year running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, befriended Hoffman shortly after his cancer diagnosis in 2011. Hoffman, from Atkinson, Nebraska, gained notice nationally at the school's 2013 spring game, running for a 69-yard touchdown. |
