I tried to watch THE BIG LEBOWSKI once but only made it about half way through.  The scene where the woman says "I'll suck your dick for two thousand dollars" (or whatever) and he says "Where's an ATM around here?" had me in stitches, but after that, it just seemed boring to me and I turned it off.

I was in a similar situation with TBL, and just watched it for the first time about two years ago.  I would say it's reputation, at least for me, was its biggest downfall.  It was a good movie, and I subsequently watched it 1 or 2 more times, but from everything I had heard about it over the years, I thought it was going to instantly be one of my favorite movies when I watched it...at the end of the day it was pretty good, pretty funny, and had memorable moments and characters, but nowhere near what I thought it was going to be.

That has one of the funniest scenes of all time in it. I rarely laugh until I cry. That movie made me cry laughing.

I've still yet to finish The Big Lebowski nor have I ever seen E.T.
Aside from Caddyshack , Im severely uninitiated in popular, classic comedies like Bad Santa, Princess Bride ,Ghostbusters , Weatherman ,Airplane,  Tropic Thunder or most any other comedy movie that's been mimicked here or most any other place .
Boondock Saints and Fifth Element are about as close as I go to the "funny stuff" , aside from watching Mel Brooks and Monty Python-stuff , years ago .
