It tries to provoke the missus to lean on her man - which is a BS business message. Life is hard enough without that kind of advertising. |

I have lots of good memories at Summit Point. I met my best friend there when we were toddlers and our dads were racing, took the highway safety school, did a couple autocrosses on the Jefferson Circuit, and did a few track days. I don't think I've been there in about five years though. I miss that place. . .
Have things changed much since Bill Scott died? |

View Quote After 9/11 there were BIG federal dollars being spent there - and that is still true. Lots of counter-ambush training, convoy security training, exec protection/movement. They built a dirt circuit for DoD training, vehicle recovery etc etc etc. Then built a big training center campus, classroom etc. Still heavy use of the three ranges all the time by feds. Friday sounded like Apocalypse Now over at the Training Center. Racing engines, explosions, lots of gunfire, smoke grenade smoke drifting up. Jefferson now has a 6/10th mile extension - which I will drive next Saturday, after Shenandoah. Word now is that a fourth track will be constructed, primarily for training. The big federal spending there has allowed them to improve facilities some. |

How do the 944/951's do against the 911's? I know they don't get the respect from the Porsche purists, but a trip to a Track Day usually rectifies that situation. |

Very cool . . . never been big into road racing but messing around on Road Atlanta was fun

Look like a good day. Where was the track? Sounds like a good place to meet women Years ago, Arthur Murray got busted for hiring attractive young women as "dance instructors" and telling them to find lonely, old men and lead them around by their dicks until they'd bilked them for every penny they had for "dance lessons." Mind you, these guys weren't even getting laid. The "dance instructors" blew smoke up their asses about how the "dance instructor" was lonely and grandpa was her ideal companion while grandpa kept writing checks, sometimes into the tens of thousands of dollars. Talk about a sleaze operation, that company was one of the best ever arguments for staying home and spanking it. |

Summit Point....right up the road for me. I took some of the .gov training there and have a lot of friends who are instructors. Ive never made it there for a race though. Would love a right hand seat offer.

View Quote The driver is a far bigger factor than the car. There were some high HP, new-ish Porsches out there... but a lower HP momentum car in the hands of a skilled driver is fast through the turns. And turns matter and add up. It takes years to slowly build up those skills. |
