I've been carrying full size framed pistols for as long as I've been carrying anything (about 15 years)
My father in law picked up a Kahr 380 about a month ago for carrying and at first I hated it....thought it was too small, a crappy caliber, and more of a toy than a weapon. The more I play with it the more I find myself wanting something tiny, that can fit in a pocket. Anyone have one of these teeny weeny pistols for EDC? Any feelings of inadequacy? |

No experience here but I'm seriously considering a Shield for summer.

XDS 9mm in a White Hat or Crossbreed. You'll forget you have it on. 7+1 and the spare mag can be 9 rounds.

M&P Shield is as "Micro" as I will go. It's small enough to conceal easily, yet points and shoots like a compact sized gun IMO.

Interestingly, i saw an old AMT .25acp in the used case at the LGS a few weeks ago and it was cheap...I'm actually thinking of getting something like that so I can wear in short pockets in the summer even if I am outside with no shirt on it's still concealed.

Kel tec p 32 is my primary weapon alot of the time. I've got a pf9 but I'm thinking of buying a shield just because.

I would consider the above sub compacts. I have LCP I consider a micro. I shot the Hackathorn standard today with a G19 and scored a 280. I shot the first couple strings of the exercise with my LCP and was about 1 second over on each stage with full points. Until I got to the el pres. It took 24 seconds but I got 60 points. My LCP has been 100% but I only carry it when I can't carry a gun.

OP, I carry a G19 most times; however, I have a Kahr PM9 and a P380 for those times when I can't carry the G19. Both of the Kahrs have run very well for me. I hate the double action trigger pulls when compared to the Glocks, but they are reliable. I would suggest a 9mm if possible like the CM9 or PM9. 380's can be finicky; although my P380 runs everything through it that I've tried. My son recently bought a 380 Shield and it won't run some brands of ammo. Between the 380's, I'd buy a Kahr over the Shield based on my personal experience.

S&W Bodyguard 380. I carry mine any time I cant carry something bigger (I probably carry it 25-30% of the time). It is a lot nicer to shoot than my old Taurus TCP, which feels about like a firecracker in your hand. The recoil on the Bodyguard is easily manageable and for some reason you just dont feel it like you do with other pocket guns. It comes with that stupid ass laser, which I have yet to touch, but I can forgive it for that. The trigger is very long and heavy. So much so that I dont use the safety. But hey, its a pocket gun so thats what I want. Overall I am very pleased.

What should be in the poll? So far the only really small guns I've seen mentioned are the Kahr, Sig, Keltec, diamondback....not even considering sub-compact frames...already have those. Give me some poll options and I'll post one. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

My Kahr CM 9 now rides in a Sneaky Pete for work, and a generic pocket holster when not dressed up (casual wear, shorts etc) I feel perfectly well protected with it. I usually carry 2 spare 7 round mags in my back pocket or IWB @ left kidney. YMMV

Closest thing i had to a Micro was a Colt Mustang, I gave that to my Niece for her Birthday. Im seriously considering either a P3AT or a PF9.

I carry a Kahr MK9 in my OWB strong side. A Seecamp 32 weak side front pocket.

I like my PM9. Extremely concealable for a pistol with a reliable defensive cartridge.

938 is the bees knees. I carry mine everywhere. It is ridiculously accurate.

I really like the TCP that will go to my daughter soon. I will likely buy another when it does.

Presently P238. Thinking of moving up to P938 due to lack of power in .380.

The smallest pistols I own/will own are an LC9 and a Scandium j-frame.
.38 Special +p is the least powerful I will carry. ETA: I own a .22 LR (Ruger Mk III) but it is not a CCW piece. |

I had a P3AT that sucked!!!BAD!!! Guys at the range would squeeze the trigger then look at it, then squeeze some more, then put it down without firing it. Most common comment? " I wouldn't own that piece of $hit!" I didn't own it long either. YMMV, but do yourself a favor and check the trigger pull! |

Sold my Keltec 380 and bought myself a Keltec PF9. Handles better and shoots 9mm. One of the best gun swaps i've made.

Colt Defender is my every day carry, Colt Detective Special or S&W Model 40, revolvers for ankle carry when iwb is not feasible
