I'm gonna preface this with I agree with everything OP said in terms of not mocking others. Now here's part of my explanation.
I think you see this in GD first because it's the Internet and is honestly less civil than real life and second because you accusations and both sides which leads to feelings of judgement. So when I Christian says to an atheist to wait and see, he'll get his in hell(which is mocking the atheist) . Well naturally an atheist will come back mocking the idea of god. GD starts pissing matches on both sides. Why mock anything to begin with? Who knows, maybe they're insecure, maybe they're just a jerk. All I know is that the Christians share just as much blame in these topics. |

I've lost track. Is this five or six threads started since yesterday where a "Christian" asks why atheists make fun of Christians (and one trollish thread asking why Christians don't try to convert Muslims)? I'm starting to think the mark of a TRUE Christian is the inability to use the search function or the little dropdown that will take them past page 1. Really can't wait for Easter to end so we can go back to the normal Gay/Brony/Libertarian threads... |

Progressive Liberals are usually the first to discount Christianity, and not Islam because they see it as the bigger threat to their agenda. They can discount Islam for many reasons, namely extremism but also their practices - so they appease. On the other hand if you can discount and discredit Christianity, the very religion and ideology our constitution is based upon, then its possible to make the government the highest authority and deny the rights given by God as cited in our US Constitution and dismantle it. This has been done in many socialist/marxist/communist regimes - and it continues today. That's my $.02.

I live and let live until provoked.
In my small town lots of folks like and hung around us until they found out we are atheists. At that point they stopped returning our calls. No mocking, belittling, or disrespect required. |
