If you created man to have free will, why did you give man ten commandments to live by? View Quote He wrote the ten commandments not so much for us to follow (which we should at least try) but to show us how broken we are. Obviously we all have trouble keeping any of them. eta: first page ownage ever |

"You were messing with me, and this was just a cruel joke right?"

Am I REALLY going to burn in hell if I am a god person who just doesn't follow a bible?

If there is a God in the Christian sense of the word, I'd ask who created him/her/it

I don't think I would have a question. There would be no reason to worry about anything.

Wouldn't go that far, but we are created in His image, although what that means exactly is up for considerable debate. Look at it more like the we're his disobedient children. For example, you know how you can watch a toddler walk towards a wall outlet to mess with it even though he might know he's not supposed to? And when you tell him "No," he'll turn around, grin at you, and start moving even faster? Same thing with us and God, only on a larger scale. There are rules He set for us to follow, and we willfully disobey them, downright gleefully sometimes. That's why He made the ten commandments, to show us the state we are in and that we need help. Like Stoner said, he gave us free will, so you are free to believe as you choose, but this is my take on the matter. |

Why give man capacity for reason, but then require blind faith which contradicts reason?
Edit: or, if you truly love everyone and want us to accept you, why are you so coy at showing us you exist? |

I'd ask if there was a "nice" corner of hell. i.e. for people who aren't really that bad but are "immoral" enough that heaven isn't quite right for them. Like, is there some fenced off area that's full of orgies and booze and drugs and crazy music and chili dogs and stuff? Can I go there? Or is that heaven? If so, how come orgies are ok in heave but not on earth? Or is that what earth is? Maybe we're already in heaven/hell/purgatory. Please explain.

I think I might also want to ask why would you make people's soul last "forever"? Is that something people really understand? That is a long long time. I don't think beings who have a life span of maybe a century are even capable of understanding forever. What if we get tired of being alive forever?
Another thing. Why faith? That seems silly. Why not let everyone know what you want and expect in no uncertain terms. I know people say "The Bible" is the answer, but that is still faith. Why faith when you could just tell me individually what you want and then if I didn't do it, you would have great reason to toss me into the pit of hell for eternity? That is like me telling my yet to be born great great great great grandson that if doesn't do what some other guys say I want him to do, I won't give him my inheritance when I could just make a video and he would know exactly what to do. Putting it all on faith seems so...1st Century, but of course that reverts back to my original question of why he quit talking to humans. I have no problem living under the rules of Christian philosophy. I think it is an awesome way to live you life. So why faith? People already are willing to follow the rules, but you put the caveat of you must believe in me on faith? That seems more like what a charlatan would add instead of a God. Of course in the presence of the God of Abraham, those questions would instantly disappear, so it makes it a moot point anyway and your puny human brain wouldn't be capable of formulating a question. |

If there is a God, I would ask Him why He created us and what He expects from us.

View Quote Why do some people get to have visitations that basically nullify faith, but the rest of us have to believe unverifiable secondhand accounts and books written after the fact? Why were your rules for Israel so cruel? Were humans just a few thousand years ago really incapable of understanding 'love thy neighbor' so instead they got 'stone teh gays and rape victims?' |

Why the pretend fight between you and the devil when he knows you can defeat any and all armies with a single thought?

Silly answer: I'd ask Him what the biggest number is. Then, while He's answering, I'd eat lunch or something.
Serious answer: I ask Him questions all the time. He answers, if I'm listening. |

If you're so wise and love us so much, why are we supposed to fear you? That doesn't make any sense to me...

If I stood before god
I would ask him what I could do for him... |
