I do not think so.

I think it helps keep the grass healthier, but I do not think it causes it to grow any faster.

Some people think after the first mow if the spring, it wakes up the dormant grass or something

in the spring it does as the grass has a higher nitrogen content from being dorment all winter soaking up sun. After the 4th of july it shouldnt matter as much.. Unless you fertilize it to keep it green in june.

Grass has a mission and it will pursue that no matter how much you cut it.

Only when there is sunshine and water.

if you put up a fence. the grass will always be greener on the other side.

Does mowing your grass make it grow faster?

No, I think you've gotten that confused with shaving your legs.

Pending rainfall and temperatures at night really, but yes there are times in the summer I swear three days after I mowed it doesn't look like it.

I came across an article while writing a research paper last year about a rare orchid species which exhibited increased rates of growth in fields which were mowed vs those in unmowed fields.

I didn't end up using the article, so I have no idea if the increased growth rate was a physiological response to being mowed, but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.

sure it does

but not so much that it will make a difference to you.  Every morning, a battle rages on. The battle is to see who can reach for the sun's life giving rays.    The blades that outgrow the others feed their roots, which are competing with all the other roots to go deeper to find water.  It's war.

So, mowing it just levels the battlefield, so to speak

My damn grass needs to be mowed every 3-4 days in the summer/fall.  I think its a viscous circle.

It does seem to grow back faster, and it itches like hell when it does....

I think so.  Then again I mow every week because people with unkept yards are human trash.
