The Russian military must be like some kind of summer camp where soldiers can go anywhere or take leave at their own will.
In some cases where Russian citizens have been captured in Ukraine by forces loyal to Kiev, Russian officials have said they were there of their own accord and were either on leave from the armed forces or had quit the military. Saw a report yesterday @ 150 billion left Russia in last year. not sure of currency, but possibly equal to new defense expenditures. Currency crunch time soon?
Also saw today report on supertanker charters new high, loading crude, increased pumpings from Iraq, and note that OPEC is pumping to help maintain surplus. Bad news to Iran, Venezuela, and Russia. Maintaining oil at $60 and lower perhaps the goal, possible $60 is about breakeven figure for the US shale oil work.? If so, we'll have a longer term reserve, already drilled. |

So, Summer it is?
The war in Ukraine may have faded largely from international headlines, but Vladimir Putin’s drip-drip invasion continues. In the last two weeks, forensic evidence, some of which has been reported by monitor organizations and senior Western diplomats, the rest corroborated by eyewitness photography and video, only confirms what the U.S. fears most: A summer offensive is inevitable. Another development on that civilian airplane that was show down. Of course, the vendor may be trying to protect its main customer and is also some pressure to do so. However, they raise some interesting points and considering how reckless both sides are that's not a far fetched possibility.
... The Russian company that makes the BUK air defense system that was used to shoot down a Malaysian airliner in east Ukraine said on Tuesday the plane was hit by a missile deployed by Ukraine and not widely used by Russia's military. State-run Almaz-Antey said its own analysis of the wreckage of the Malaysia Airlines plane brought down on July 17 last year, killing 298 people, indicated it was hit by a BUK 9M38M1 surface-to-air missile armed with a 9H314M warhead. Shrapnel holes in the plane were consistent with that kind of missile and warhead, it said. Such missiles have not been produced in Russia since 1999 and the last ones were delivered to foreign customers, it said, adding that the Russian armed forces now mainly use a 9M317M warhead with the BUK system. Bellingcat has claimed that Russia's satellite photos showing Ukrainian BUK's in the area were faked and their report is being picked up by western media. http://www.cnbc.com/id/102722032 However, real forensic analysts have been pretty critical of their methods, including the programmer who wrote the photo analysis program they used. Conclusions from one analyst from Australia: http://7mei.nl/2015/06/01/about-bellingcats-claim-russian-sat-pics-fake/ Redux
In conclusion I reiterate the main issues – Bellingcat ‘investigators’ are unqualified – Their use of Error Level Analysis is incompetent – Their reliance on dubious imagery dating is incompetent – They have no idea about publication processes for digital documents – They make totally unjustified guesses at ‘probabilities’ and present them as fact – Their conclusions are unsound. I say again about the purpose of this document. It’s not about proving or disproving or rebutting anything. It’s about showing how Bellingcat is fundamentally incompetent at best and quite possibly malevolent at worst. |

The first detailed analysis of the Malaysian Airlines flight shoot down from Russian aerospace engineers said that the evidence indicated an air-to-air attack, they suspected from a Ukrainian Su-25 attack plane in order to conceal what happened, and set up as a false flag implicating Russia. The world remains asleep at the wheel as this crisis once again experiences a new escalation. Why the hell isn't this a bigger news story? You flip on the national news and all you see are stories about Bruce Jenner's transformation or whether American Pariah will win the Triple Crown. Mixed in here and there is the announcement that some washed-up, has been, never was is announcing their candidacy for president. All the while an escalating crisis continues to deepen in eastern Europe as the Russians show no signs that they are yet anywhere near finished with what they've started. This situation could potentially get out of control with just one minor miscalculation.
Is the world really so caught up in so much insignificant bullshit that the Ukraine Crisis is simply a back page item of interest? Or is the world simply not ready to deal with the potential ramifications here and prefer to pretend this isn't happening in hopes that it will just somehow go away? This is some really serious shit that's going on and I can't believe it is just being ignored by most of the country, even most of the world. Unreal. |

Show a different carrot and they immediately forget the previous one. And the issue is not just Ukraine. The world is a powder keg with several fuses: Ukraine, South China Sea, ISIS and others that are used as distractions, until they get really out of control. We have serious issues even here at home. The "kinder, gentler, less provocative" measures we've been trying for well over a year are clearly not working. It is time we do something else. With news of this latest offensive breaking today, the response I'd like to see from the White House is a statement being issued detailing the transfer of a significant number of Javelin and TOW2 systems to the Ukrainian Army effectively immediately. Moreover, I'd make it crystal clear to the Russians that going forward, every single piece of combat equipment they bring into this fight will be met by the delivery of a US made system designed to kill it. That is IMO the best way forward for dealing with this crisis. You want to stop the Russian advance? Make them bleed at a rate they are unwilling to sustain. When large numbers of Russian troops start coming home in coffins for what is largely viewed as a dubious cause, civil unrest within Russia will become intolerable. |

Any independent confirmation that Ukraine has moved >= 122mm howitzers forward and are now shelling Donetsk again? View Quote http://m.ria.ru/world/20150605/1068411408.html?rubric=sys_daynews&sort=sortkey |

Hmmmmm. http://www.npr.org/2015/06/04/412046928/russian-trolls-spread-false-information-on-the-internet .......Yeah. It seems like a pretty normal office. And I talked to one woman who worked from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and she had a quota of posts that she was supposed to put up. She would get a list of opinions, basically, that she was supposed to post under the guise of these different personas that she ran. Like, dealing with the war in Ukraine, you know, criticizing the president of Ukraine, criticizing Barack Obama, praising Putin and the Russian government - things like. Enough of this shit. Looks like the summer offensive has begun in Marinka and Avdeevka. The fact ISIS is driving around in 2,300 up armored humvees right now (many of which are rigged to be truck bombs) should answer that. |
