Shocking news over n TMZ today.
The pastor on Nat. Geo's "Snake Salvation" died Saturday night ... after one of the snakes to which he prays bit him. Pentecostal pastor Jamie Coots suffered the fatal attack while preaching to his Tennessee congregation. Emergency units raced to the church ... but the reality star had already left and gone home. The show's website explains the Pastor and his followers believe the Bible says a poisonous snakebite will not harm them as long as they are anointed by God’s power. EMTs went to Coots' home but he sent them away ... refusing care ... an hour later he was dead. It's unclear if they were filming during the sermon. http://www.tmz.com/2014/02/16/snake-salvation-pastor-jamie-coots-dead-dies-nat-geo/ |

Don't think he prays to the snakes.
But inshallah or whatever. |
|
Well, guess he wasn't anointed then, eh?
Stupid games, and all. |

I am putting together a mission to import some Taipan and Black Mamba to replace any/all snakes that these God fearing Protestants use. What could go wrong?

|
Didn't the Zulus believe that the white devils' bullets couldn't harm them?

Lash her stones & throw her into the lake, if she rises to the top she's a witch.

The thread title is kinda like "Aspiring Rapper dies in shooting"
Or "number three leader of Al Queda killed by Predator". Not surprising, but still interesting. |

Never understood that. He is either foolish or God decided to call him home.

Oh him of insufficient faith.
OTOH, I'm pretty sure God didn't mean for us to be dumbasses.

Doesn't the Bible say not to tempt the Lord thy God. I'm being serious as I'm a Christian.
What they do sounds a lot like what Satan said to Jesus in the desert.

Does the Church shut down now? If thats how they believe and that was their pastor and that happened whats a wrap right? Kinda obliterated their whole system over there.

Just goes to show the danger of blind belief in anything.
Danger to the individual or danger to those he believes is his enemy. Faith can be very powerful and like a gun, used for good or evil. Sometimes, misguided faith is just Darwin's tool. |

The irony is that someone in WV posted this thread about TN, IIRC I thought WV was the only state that snake handling was legal in for religious purposes.

One thing on my bucket list is to go to one of those churches. I want the snakes, speaking in tonges, holy horn, the oil, all that shit. That's entertainment.

Otherwise you're just a poser. |
