OHIO KILLER EXECUTED WITH NEW LETHAL DRUG COMBO
LUCASVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A condemned Ohio inmate appeared to gasp several times and took more than 15 minutes to die Thursday as he was executed with a combination of drugs never before tried in the U.S. Dennis McGuire's attorney, federal public defender Allen Bohnert, called his client's death "a failed, agonizing experiment by the state of Ohio." The state used intravenous doses of two drugs, the sedative midazolam and the painkiller hydromorphone, to put McGuire to death for the 1989 rape and fatal stabbing of a pregnant woman, Joy Stewart. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/ohio-killer-close-execution-untried-method I heard this story on the radio this morning. They said she was 8-months pregnant. Cue Grumpy Cat. |

Should have been slid down a rusty 12 foot razor blade into a vat of rubbing alcohol.

He was out like a light while he was dying. I seriously doubt he even noticed.

He murdered a woman who was 8 months pregnant. I wish it had taken longer.

And not even remotely as painful as what his victim went through. Good riddance.
|
|
If it was "agonizing", I'm not getting the "failed" part.
Sounded pretty damned successful to me. |

Put him in a plastic bag and hit it with your hammer. Oops....I thought we were still on the Hamster With a Broken Leg thread.

A.) If he died as the lawyer said, Good. Of course I wouldn't trust a lawyer's evaluation of a medical process for shit.
B.) I really doubt what is otherwise viewed as an overdose of a benzo and dilaudid was agonizing. That guy died in a narcotic induced warm blissful sleep. He doesn't deserve such a pleasant death. |

That's far too long. On a personal level, I'm fully in favor of making any criminal who causes such gross pain and suffering feel as much pain as he's cause to his victim. But on a more rational level, they're just animals, and we don't kill them out of a need for revenge. We kill them because our society's safer without them in it. Once we (as a society) have decided that they have to be killed for our protection, the act should be carried out as swiftly and mercifully as possible. They deserve no better and no worse than a mad dog.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the death penalty, the cruel and unusual cries fall on deaf ears when it comes to lethal injection. "Here, we are going to put you under anesthesia and then stop your heart." OH, the HORROR! Millions of surgical procedures a year are cruel, barbarous TORTURE! |

My give a fuck meter must be broken, because I don't give a fuck.

And those two pinhead Lawyers were just as concerned at how much pain and time it took for the preggers woman and baby to die.... Right.....

Flaying and The Boats aren't experimental. Lets use them next time. |

Didn't die fast enough to suit the lawyer? Well, it's a start. As long as the inmate is sedated heavily enough it shouldn't matter. They spend all their lives seeking drugs to blotto them out of their minds and then have their lawyer bitch about the buzz of all time prior to their death. They'd complain if you hung them with a new rope, too.
If they want it faster we could just prescribe 230 grains of lead to the central nervous system. Or a captive bolt gun. I will draw the line at hungry dogs, though, because dogs deserve better than that. |

Fill the room with nitrogen and they painlessly pass out and suffocate. The feeling of suffocation is caused by co2 buildup not the actual loss of oxygen. Fill the room with nitrogen and they just get sleepy and die. Nitrogen is cheap too, cheaper than firing squad ammo cheap. |

Needs more Executioners firing squad that're using Fully Auto .177cal Pellet Guns.

Ohio seems to have a reputation for such events. We do have that express lane. We do our best here in Virginia, but y'all set the bar pretty high. |

Should have taken longer, maybe they should have put a little battery acid in his veins to make it more painful. Piss on him, he didn't get all that he had coming.

Blame the Danes... they ban the sale of sodium thiopental and pentobarbital, and these things will happen.
Of course, maybe this is a good thing... |
