I'm kinda surprised some dickhead hasn't reported his car stolen and made them dust for prints knowing who will show up. My prints aren't in the system. You didn't have a fingerprint-based background check done for your LE job? |

Oh noes! a cop touched your car! Really don't have a problem with this. I've seen videos of K-9s scratching all over vehicles. I would have a problem with that. Cause its the same thing. No, it's not. I couldn't care less if an officer (human) touches my vehicle during a stop. However, if I pull up to a roadblock (VERY legal here) and Fido wants to scratch up my paint job....when the officer says I can go ahead, I would pull over to search for/document any damage. Somebody's 'gonna pay if my vehicle's finish is screwed up. |

I've never bought that line, about how they "return the fingerprint card" and don't store it. I'm willing to bet that once the FBI gets a set of prints, the person they came from is in III/NFF. |

Cop killers have been caught because of that trick. They are also checking to be sure the trunk is closed, and someone isn't going to pop out behind them. Yes this is COPS 101. If you have a dashcam, a MDT you've put the plate into, etc. ... then whether you smack a print on the trunk probably isn't going to be the deciding factor these days. Also, I don't really give a shit if a cop wants to stick his fingers on my trunk lid. Knock yourself out. |
|
The 'Making sure hte trunk is closed group,'must not know that for the last decade, all trunks have had internal releases. They even have glow in the dark pull handles. Its for the children, would not want them getting locked in the trunk while playing tag.

Guess I'll have to start dragging my brown eye all over the bed of my truck. No big deal, I'll just add it to the list.

good for them, dont break the fucking law and dont speed and they wont touch touch your car View Quote Not true they do the same shit when they approach cars that are parked perfectly legally with an occupant or two to check to see what's going on, or making sure you're ok while changing your tire, belt, whatever, there are lots of reasons they contact motorists that have exactly nothing to do with the motorist breaking any law, statute, code, or other regulation. I don't care that they do it, but obeying the law is no sure way to avoid LEO contact. |

The practice was very common before the days of dash cams. View Quote And apparently it's a hard habit to break. As I was leaving my parent's house last week, I left my hat inside. I was pulling out of the driveway and my dad walked up to my window to return it. As he passed the back of the truck, yep, he reached over and touched the quarter panel with two fingers. |

I bet a lot of criminals ride around with an extra dude in the trunk with an AK just in case they get pulled over by the fuzz. I've already pulled two felons out of the trunks of cars where they were hiding. Next stupid statement, please. Was the trunk loose and discovered by touching it or did you find them after deciding to search the car ? |

Okay, so if you smoke a cop on a traffic stop, make sure to wipe the car down to get rid of finger prints. Check.
But how do you travel back in time to retroactively prevent him radioing in your license plate before he even got out of his car? |

It doesn't. |

I'm kinda surprised some dickhead hasn't reported his car stolen and made them dust for prints knowing who will show up. Prints on a car alone wouldn't be enough for even a charge. We get prints a lot of the time on recovered vehicles and without more evidence they rarely do much good....other than to know who to keep an eye out for. Plus there would be a record of the officer stopping the car. Sorry, I'm no fun at parties . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K21oFxk2QlM Oh, you're right....I'm just saying it wouldn't matter. |

This happened to me and at the time it kinda surprised me and pissed me off all at the same time, now I understand... kinda. Having been raised around classic cars and going to car shows dad would tear my ass up if he saw me touch anyone else's car, its just not done, something about respect and you didn't pay for it so keep your Dick skinners off but if it will save just one life...

In Missouri a lot of trucks don't have rear plates. |

This sounds more like an old wive's tale that cops tell each other, but if there actually is some truth to it, I'd like some specifics. ETA: Also, I don't care if they touch my tail light. Its crusted with dirt and salt and grime anyways, one more filthy addition isn't going to matter. |

They taught us that in MP school in 1981. I can't believe someone would be upset about it. Why would it bother someone? Stupid.
