I wonder what the regeneration will be like.  They seem to be getting more violent with each one.  Tennant almost blew the TARDIS apart.

Yep, I just hope it's not a more "metro-sexual" Dr.

The new Doctor has been announced.  It's Peter Capaldi.  They went older with this Doctor, so probably not "metro-sexual"

ETA

The interesting thing is the Valeyard (evil Doctor) is supposed to occur between the 12th and last regeneration of the Doctor (where he finally dies at Trenzalore).  I watched an interview where Moffat said they picked an older Doctor because they want to push the character in a certain direction.  It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

I'm a very new Doctor Who fan, primarily because of this Snowleopard thread from earlier this year, but damn I'm looking forward to this.

Will it be broadcast in the US on the same day as the UK or will there be a delay?

There's about a 3 year delay.. lol

At least on PBS we get it 2-3 years after it's originally aired on BBC.

I think the BBC US channel is behind the BBC UK.  So they'll see it first.  Should be the same day however.

If you have Amazon Prime goto the instant videos and find season 3 of Doctor Who (the last three Doctors are called "New Who").  Goto the episode called "Blink" and then kiss much of your free time goodbye as you catch up

ETA

Quite a while is something of an understatement.  The episode "The Day of The Doctor" (which is what we're talking about) is the 50th anniversary

Gonna miss Matt Smith a bit...I thought he was pretty good and the chemistry he was building with Jenna-Louise Coleman was awesome.

Speaking of her, I have a huge crush on Clara...not sure why exactly, but more than the other companions.  This girl is just my type I guess

Kingrat, the "New" Doctor Who episodes are on Netflix too.
It also has some of the older episodes, but if you just watch the New ones you'll be caught up.

And he's right a about "Blink".
Damn fine television right there.

eta: Looks like Netflix doesn't have the last season (7) up yet.

My gut tells me its going to be a horrific cluster fuck that I have to try to forget about, like the Pond send off.

High hopes for Capaldi, though.  Hopefully he kicks Moffat in the balls if he suggests another Jack Sparrow costume.

There's a good chance of that.  He is not a "no name" actor.  He has the résumé to tell Moffat to fuck off if he wants to.

They need to bring Georgia Moffett aka Jenny the Doctors daughter - back into the series, she's a kickin' actress, married to David Tennant in real lift too, must make for great pillow talk when you're bangin' your on-screen daughter...

I guess Rose is my favorite just because she was the first companion in the "new" series. But it helps that Billie is a good actor and sexy.

It's going to be interesting to see how they bring her back considering she's in a parallel universe, if she crosses over both universes will be destroyed, and the doctor needed a super nova just to say goodbye.

Seen "The Secret Diary of a Call Girl"?

She is my favorite also, for much the same reason as yours.
She was basically my intro into the Dr. Who universe.

I did watch some of the Tom Baker shows way back when, but never really got into it.

Yeah, there wasn't much, especially considering the subject matter.
But there was some.

I didn't say NO nudity, just a lack of it

For example, I just finished the series "Orange is The New Black" on Netflix the other day that takes place in a woman's prison.  Tits... tits everywhere... it held my attention

The hussy!

As far as the Doctors go, I used to not like Smith at all.
But he really has grown on me.

'Course, his companions may have had something to do with that.
