Given my age and growing up on movies about WWII, I really, really NEED a Luger!

Too bad the prices are stupid high and will forever keep me out of the market (I'm not rich like you posters that brag about having the high-end version of, literally, everything).

Check gunbroker frequently...
I recently missed out on two in the $500 range
The recent one I scored was $630 and comes with a 1936 dated holster...

Nice!  I have a .30 cal Luger that my grandpa got from one of his friends.  The friend took it off a dead German officer in WWII.

I have two magazines and the original holster.  The only problem was my uncle cut the bottom out of the holster when he as 11 so that his colt 45 sixshooter would fit in it

1923 Commercial. Some of these were pressed into service, although I am surprised that it is still in 30 Luger as it should have been rebarreled to 9mm. Have you fired this gun? the head space looks a bit long.

I haven't fired it, but my dad used to shoot it all the time with grandpa when he was younger.  Not sure about the head space.  I've only taken it apart to clean it.  It spends most of its life wrapped in an oiled cloth in a safe.

One of my most unique Lugers. The guy who made these did less than 10 as I recall. They took a 1920 Commercial that I had that was a dog and cut the frame in two and removed one cartridge space and tig welded it back together using the same steel from the gun. Then shortened a barrel to 3" and silver soldered front sight ring on. Then they took a pair of Nill grips and cut them in two and dovetailed them back together and hand checkered them. Finally it was sent to Thor340 for a nice rust blue. Had two Mec Gar mags cut down to 7 shot as well.

They never made any ambi Lugers. Back then if  you were a lefty you learned to shoot right handed. Here is a left side of a Portuguese M2 contract gun.

Nnnghhh, this thread is as sexy as hell.

ETA: As much as I love the precision and inexpense of modern manufacturing, and the maturity of handgun technology making modern designs pretty much bulletproof... man, what ever happened to total lunacy in handgun design? I wish more modern guns had totally ridiculous operating mechanisms, with levers flipping all over the place and gas ports and blow-forward and all kinds of silly crap like that. Where is the nonsense, people?
