If we can just shut it down for an entire year, the country will be better off.

Cans will be kicked down the road until the midterms- then it will be voter fraud apocalypse.

The only thing that will derail that is China calling bullshit on our currency.

As a contractor...I hope it doesn't happen. I kind of enjoy the paycheck every month.

As a libertarian...we need drastic changes to our fucked up system of gov't.

Yes.

Our great grandparents, their progeny, and us have allowed the government to intrude into areas that it had no right to. From the draft, to the income tax and prohibition we have allowed gov to take control of areas of our lives it was never intended to. Had we not done this we would not be in the situation we are in today.

Snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

They will either kick the can down the road until after the midterms (where the dems will retake the house), or "reach around the aisle" to appeal to a broader voting block (will also fail).

Party leadership lacks balls, they are also infested with RINOs. With the exception of a few bright spots, money+power+reelection > the will of the people.

I'm hoping they continue to get absolutely nothing done. It is the best thing they have done in a long time.

This.  If a shutdown occurs, the first people who should lose their paychecks should be Congress.

My favorite so far has been Barry on Congress: "Voting to repeal Obamacare 40 times isn't a jobs plan". Yes, you fucking dolt, it is.

A govt shutdown would leave thousands of orange dicked basement dwellers without access to images of the latest gadgets on real men and womens weapons......

Looking into it, services that continue despite a shutdown include police, fire fighting, the National Weather Service and its parent agencies, the postal service, armed forces, utilities, air traffic management, and corrections.

ETA
To me, that's perfect, isn't that where we actually want our levels of spending and outreach?

Well, I do kinda like the 4 day work week, and if and when we ever get back to actually working 5 days a week, the return to full pay will be like a huge raise, without our overlords actually have to pay us more.....

Now never mind that guys in theater are fighting 7 days a week, we can still hold our head up high that we are doing our very best to support the warfighter
