My first thought, too.  Where the hell would the brass go in that position?

I'm a rifle marksmanship instructor as a hobby, and I was looking at each picture going "ok, good prone, left elbow under the rifle in each stance, offhand could use a little help..."

Then I got to the end and realized i got pwn3d.   Bravo, sir!

This is awesome and very informative.  I practiced a few of these positions at a High Power Rifle shoot not long ago.  The AK47 was the best.

Thanks for sharing.

Your "friend" is wearing Ron Paul shoes.  As if the rest of him wasn't shambolic enough, he's wearing fucking Ron Paul shoes.....

There isn't an A2 in the pictures, unless you count the C7 upper as an A2, which it isn't.

OP, were you in 3/325th AIR?

Not me in the pics.

The rifle is a Colt AR-15 A2. It has several A1 features and several A2 features. For example, A1 carry handle and no gate around mag release but the upper has a shell deflector and a weird, large, round FA. It has an A2 stock, PG, and hand guards and a 1:7 twist barrel.

That's what it looked like to me, although I didn't zoom in on the pivot pin to check for a slot head.  The upper is commonly referred to as a C7 upper, which is what the Canadians used on their service rifle of Stoner design, as did some of the Colt Commando carbines sold to foreign nations in small numbers, and also purchased outside the normal US procurement system by elements within the CT community.

Colt through a lot of different parts together on the Sporter II series, and that configuration is the first AR15 I ever used and fired as a kid in the late 1980's.

I asked about 3/325 AIR because of your screen name.  1/325 AIR was White Falcons, 2/325 AIR was Red Falcons, and 3/325 AIR was Blue Falcons when I was in the 82nd.  It was a badge of shame because of the common soldier brevity code that "Blue Falcon" refers to, which you're probably quite familiar with.
