Tier 1: LWRC= POF = KAC = Larue Tier 2: BCM = LMT = Sabre = Ranier = Colt = Noveske = Daniel Defense = FN = JP Tier 3: RRA = Spikes = YHM = Armalite = Bushmaster (old-Windham,ME) = S&W = Ruger = Windham Weaponry Tier 4: CMMG = DPMS = PSA = Stag = CavArms = Mega = Bushmaster (new-Ilion,NY) = Adams Arms = Del-ton = Primary Tier 5: Oly = Rguns = Model 1 = Eagle Tier 6: New Frontier = Century C-15 = Vulcan How'd I do? I've ranked manufacturers based on quality from what I've learned from personal experience as well as what I feel I've learned from postings on Arfcom. Feel free to move these around as you see fit. I'm curious to see how close this chart lines up with the general consensus here. In making this chart, I also realized that I really want to upgrade my Tier 4 and Tier 3 guns to some of the better quality stuff that has hit the market in the last 10 years. Edited to add: FN, Mega, and correct "POA" typo to POF 2nd Edit: Added JP, Windham Weaponry, split Bushmaster into old and new, moved Vulcan to the bottom due to popular demand, moved Del-ton up 3rd Edit: Added Primary Weapons Final Edit: Corrected the spelling error in the title for the grammar nazis |

i feel noveske should be bumped up 1
armalite can just get the fuck off the list all together (bastards) and the rest looks about right |

Today? Maybe. In 6 months who knows? That's when arfcommers whos rifles have been functioning perfectly for years wake up to learn its suddenly a piece of shit and quickly throw it away to buy whatever the new flavor-of-the-week it.

Move del-ton up a spot and bushmaster down two Esp for Post Windham ones |

Seriously? Were still doing this
Half of your first 3 Tiers make products that are equal in quality. |

What's the matter with Bushmaster? Mine has never had a problem. It is accurate. Might not have the right logo on it, but it just works every time. What else can you ask for?
|
|
You can't put Century in one group because they have had several different makers of their receiver for example. Some as good as any (CM) and some crap cast junk.

My Bushmaster runs just fine. No it doesn't. You're spending too much time shooting and not enough time reading Arfcom. Otherwise you'd know better. |

This is an opinion topic.
I sure as hell wouldn't put YHM, Bushmaster, or Ruger above CMMG, DPMS, or DelTon. Just me tho. |
|
I'd move Stag up and BM and Ruger down a couple
ETA: I was finally thinking we were past this nonsense though |

Thats not a quality ranking, its fanyboy density chart. Nailed it. |

Based on what I have seen my tier 4 DPMS do in a couple of classes and all the other trouble free range trips it has given me I would put it in tier 1.
|
|
My Spike's runs a EOTech and we all know operators run those so thereby it makes it Tier 1.

Where is FN? Tier 2?
I can understand why the lines might get blurry with PSA...not all of their internals are always made by FN....but most of their barrels and upper recievers are. And I thought Spikes used BCM parts? Should be the same tier shouldn't it? |

All those will kill just the same. I love the my gun was more expensive than your gun threads.... |
|
Forgot Wilson.....
Tell me.....If three rifles all run the same, shot the same, and for all meaningful purposes are the same......are they in the same tier? Seriously. |

Total fail. You got one or 2 right but the fail overshadows the accuracy.
|
|
I think the OP meant to say "POF" instead of POA.
Patriot Ordinance Factory.....some expensive shit. |

When is someone going to post the criteria that determines the ranking on the list ?

I run all three to stay above the curve -- that's Tier 1/2! Seriously though, few companies actually do the machining themselves so others do it for them. Buy what you can afford. Run what ya brought. Make your bullets fly straight and on target. If it breaks, fix it. If it's shit, it'll be apparent. Regardless of who you paid for it. |
