Stopped by one of my Walmarts this AM. One that has been getting almost
no ammo and was pleasently surprised to see two green cans of Federal .223
55 gr FMJ.  I left one for someone else.

At first I thought it was the 420 round cans of XM855 they were selling this time
last year for $139 and thought they had gone all CTD but when I took a closer look
I saw it was 1000 rounds. Not XM855 but I'll take it.

Interesting.  I haven't seen any 1000 rd cans.

My Wal-Mart is limiting to 3 boxes per day.  That would count as one box under their directive.  Wish they'd get some of that here.

That i would actually buy.

Someone on another site posted a link to a shop (which...was actually local to me...) that had wolf for 17.99/20

"But they have ammo..." Yeah...and they will for a while as far as I'm concerned.

Our local Walmarts have a three box limit on all ammo in stock.

You're a lucky man...

I haven't had any luck finding any ammo at my local Walmarts recently. Nice grab!

And may I add, kudos to you for leaving one for someone else!!

Could you get me a better picture of the Walmart sticker so I can order one from my local Walmart.
The guy at the ammo counter said if I got the number he would order it for me.

The SKU number

I think I'm done with recreational shooting except .22s.  People jump at this, and I can't see it as anything but ridiculously overpriced.  Once .223 went over $220 for 1K rounds, I stopped buying.  I guess I will never buy any more.

How do you go about that?  Just ask?

I bought a 420 round can of M855 from Dicks some months back and I cant use it to practice with at the indoor range I shoot at.

Crap, those cans are going for $20 by themselves. I picked up a can of 400 Federal .38 specials at Cabelas for $155 the other day, and was just as happy to get a .50 cal can.

I'm guessing it is loaded to 223 pressure?

If I zoom in on the posted pic, the number appears to be 2946556265.  The first 2 could possibly be a Z, but I'm pretty sure it's a 2.

My Walmart ammo shelf has been bare as shit every tine I have gone in.

I have gone at different times of week and day. Including ten minutes ago.

I wonder if the sporting goods manager is just an idiot, or worse, a fudd.

Loaded to .223 pressure.

Says on the box that it has "harder primers," or something to that effect, and is designed for use in AR-style firearms.

You should have bought both and sold the second for $0.75/rd to save someone. $$ and defray the cost of the other k.

Otherwise an unscrupulous person locally will sell for $1/ea or more

That's exactly what my wmt told me.  7am, 5-6 people buying anything.

One of the local Wal-Marts had American Eagle black box .223 for $8 per 20 all day yesterday. I even went by at 9 at night and it was still there. Signs that the panic is ending.

I can remember when we didn't get excited about paying $400 for plinking ammo.  It would have been a "Look how Wally World just butt secks'd me on this ammo" thread.

+1 on that request!  We need to let Wal-Mart know that we want LOTS more of those 1000 rounds 50 cal boxes of .223!

It didn't show up because your store is not traited to carry that ammo yet. I am betting this is a trial run at a limited number of stores to test the sales potential of this item.

If you want walmart to start carrying this regularly, it needs to be bought up as soon as it hits the shelf to show them that it is a product that is in high demand.

Good score, considering the environment.

I have this bad gut feeling that in a few years we'll be reminiscing these days when WalMart sold AR ammunition by the ammo can.  Like how we wish we had purchased a few $399 AKs when we had the opportunity.

Does Federal box these in 7 round packages yet?  Because if I already didn't have 7 rounds, I'd buy another 7.

I would drive out to WV for this. Walmart around here hasnt seen ammo in weeks. I think the manager buys it before it can even get on the shelf.
