Quoted: Really? Because I'm sitting on 350,000 round of Horandy 75 grain TAP and 1,000,000 round of .223 Horandy TAP practice ammo for a 131 man department. Don't get me started on the 1,000,000 rounds of Winchester .45 white box ball and Ranger SXT we have for practice and duty. MOLON LABE, baby John A million rounds I guess 130s a pretty big department but that must be a ton of storage space. |

I think it's around 250,000 rounds 2 year ammo budget. We have an outdoor storage garage. The city orders 300,000 rounds per ammo budget whether we use it or not. Believe me, we've tried. I'm not complaining because they send me to any shooting class I put in for.. 4 pallets is about right for .45 ammo though. We shoot every month on one of out three weapon systems; 5.56, 12 guage, and .45. And they leave cases of .45 out for officers to practice on their own time which usually goes through 2000-3000 per month in addition to quals. We had to use duty ammo in the past to use up before the next budget. The city spends about $190k every 2 years on ammo purchases which is put in storage. I've shot ammo at leas 4-5 years old and still have Winchester white box .45 the had the old black print only on it. John |

Yet somehow they are expected to protect us as some form of all powerful omnipresent force of public defenders thus making the 2nd Amendment obsolete... |

What are they going to do if there are no speeders and no doughnuts? |

Simple.
If they need ammo, stop waiting for what's on backorder. Find ammo on Gunbroker, it's on there. |

HA! They are not shopping in the right places. Last night I stopped by Gander Mountain in Greensburg PA. for some shotgun stuff and saw maybe a hundred 100 and 200 rd boxes of Federal .223 and piles of 1,000 rd cases of 9mm.

I'm sure FEMA can spare some ammo from their "World Domination" contingency plan?

You mean they weren't out panic buying like everyone else. Maybe they should be stocked up years ago, you would think that ammo would be something that if they purchased and stored they would eventually use it.

I know must of us hate the cops, but i rather they have the equipment they need to "try" to keep us safe. I don't hate the cops. I want them to have what they need to do their job, but if the average person is subject to the ammo shortage, they should be too. No preferential treatment. Let's not forget weapons. If they get em, we get em. |

Don't worry. Some Arfcom holster-sniffer will be along shortly to tell us he has exactly 3 boxes of .40 cal. but gave 2 of them away to a cop so he would have the tools he needed.

By PoliceOne Staff GREER, S.C. — Police departments nationwide are facing ammunition shortages and backorders with unknown delivery dates. "It's never easy to get ammo, but since the tragedy in Connecticut, it's become even more difficult," Sgt. Chris Forrester of the Greer Police Department in South Carolina told WSPA -7. Trouble viewing the video? Download Flash player here The shortage is making Forrester rethink their qualifications and training for dozens of officers within the department. "We’re having to be more conservative," he said. Tens of thousands of rounds have been backordered for departments in Georgia as well, according to WSB-TV. "It affects our ability to be prepared,” said Police Chief Terry Sult of the Sandy Springs Police Department. "It affects the potential safety of the officers, because they're not as proficient as they should be." WSB-TV reports that the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office of Georgia was forced to reschedule training exercises as they scramble to restock ammunition. An ammo supplier for Georgia police departments, Jay Wallace, said the shortage is a result of the huge spike in ammo and gun sales to civilians in recent weeks. “There’s been more demand for ammunition than there’s ever been," Wallace said. Sult stated that they are prepared to handle short-term shortages, but not long-term. "We're going be starting to get very concerned at the six-month level if that's all we have in stock, because then we have to start planning and rationing," he said. Good, maybe someones dog will live to see another day. |

This would be very opportune for the president to make an emergency executive order to divert all duty and training style ammo to military and police only since they have "legitimate" need for it the serfs do not.
|

I just browsed local for sale sites. There is plenty of ammo for sale. The department just needs to reach a little deeper.

I just can't find a damn to give. I'm thinking back to every article I've ever read with cops, chiefs, sheriffs, and departments pushing for more gun control on law-abiding citizens. Maybe the good cops who need ammo to train with should go ask the gun grabber cops for some ammo, since they helped manufacture the current shortage through years of beating the drum of gun control. This, they should have to pay double what we pay at the height of panic prices, IMO. More for the citizens that way. |

Unless cops are personal body guards and always at your side I would say that it's more important that civilians have ammo.
